I'm waiting to go to MEPS because I need to lose 4% body fat and was wondering what kind of advice you would have for that. I am going to start drinking an EAS Myoplex after each PT session, I am starting to do 30/60 for an hour 3 times per day, and I do push-ups and sit-ups whenever I can. I have been trying to replace ground beef with lean ground turkey as much as possible. I need help with what I should eat. What kind of fruits/veggies? What kind of main dishes? I'm a big pasta eater so I need some healthy choices that will get me away from that for sure. I heard eating salad is good because your body burns more calories digesting it than you intake by eating it, is that true? Should I eat 3 meals a day or 6 small meals a day? Sorry for the long post but this 4% body fat is the only thing holding up my enlistment process and I would like as much help as I can get.

There's been a lot of discussion regarding diet plans, etc. on these pages.

First, and most important, throw away the EAS, muscle milk, and the other designer nutrition crap. The only thing that stuff is good for is making money for the manufacturers. Their claims are backed for the most part by research that is dubious at best.

Next, look for a plan that will help you with not only choices, but portion control as well. It's both what and how much you eat. There are a lot of posts on these boards about South Beach, Nutri-systems, Weight Watchers, etc. You have to find one that works for you.

Do you drink soda? If so, shift to a diet variety, and limit your intake. If you drink coffee/tea, skip the sugar and either take it straight or use artificial sweeteners.

There'll be other folks chiming in as well. Listen to their advice and then look for what will work for you - just because it worked for them does not mean it's right for you.

Here's an easy way to lose weight; plus if you stay with it, it knocks out colds, sore throats; and gives you energy to boot....Get a bottle of unpasterized (cloudy), unrefined, apple cidar vinegar....take a big swallow in the morning and a big swallow at night....thats all you do (it is acidic, so be sure to rinse out your mouth with water....most people will lose weight if they do this and change nothing about their diet or exercise habits....This is one of those old folk remedies that folks used to know before we got too smart to try something this simple...<> is a real good source for natural remedies... probably 70 food store a

Talk to your doctor. You need to find a plan that will help you loose weight and build muscle. No Fads, no vinegar, exercise and healthy eating.

Look, an hour on the treadmill at 3.2 mph - a nice fast walk, will use about 300 calories (weight, incline and speed affect usage) and cover a bit more than 3 miles. A Milky Way bar will add 230 calories. Do the hour of exercise, skip the bar.

Dave_M ~

Why no apple cider vinegar? About 30 years ago, i used it to help bring my body to a healthier pH condition, back to better than "normal" for my age at the time.

Rousterga:

Do you have any personal experience with vinegar relative to your body?

Always consider what Boats says.

Me and losing weight? Sure, last August, at age 60, i decided to drop 20-25#---back to within 5# of my weight in the good old days. Yes, sir it happened by March or so because i decided it should. I ate pretty much the same stuff, just less. I don't drink sodas, rather just regular beer and sugarless black coffee. In summer, when the temps go over 90 i switch to iced green tea with white sugar. Beyond a short term energy kick, there are no health benefits in that white stuff. And the phoney sugars? Why waste your body's energy stocks processing stuff that can't be used for fuel?

Which reminds me, if you want to fug an engine to bad running, dump a couple of cups of white sugar in the gas.

You have a mind in that body of yours, young man. Use it.

Yes in 2006 I lost 60+- pounds over the course of a year just from UNPASTERISED, UNREFINED apple cidar vinegar....I changed nothing else about my diet and exercise habits....The weight loss is gradual; works for probably 2/3 to 3/4 of people that try it..The other health benifits are tremendous; especially warding off colds, sinus problems, sore throats, etc. Key is using the unrefined ACV..Is sort of funny; 200 years ago and before this was (benifits of ACV) well known; but today we are too modern and sophisdicated to try a natural remedy....
