I'm up for a 4-year Army ROTC scholarship. At this point, I'm beginning paperwork and should be taking the APFT in mid-July. My weight exceeds the APFT standards by about 19 lbs, however my body fat percentage is within the allowed range (24.3%, and the max allowed is 30%). To my understanding, you can still pass the APFT if you are within the body-fat % range, but is that also the case with an ROTC scholarship? I just want to make sure that this isn't going to prevent me from getting one. I run 2 miles 3-4 times a week and take spinning classes at the gym. I'm consistantly bringing my weight down, however I don't think it'll be within the weight range by the time of my APFT. Does anyone know for sure if this will affect my getting a scholarship? Any advice?

Being overweight just means they have to measure you. Measuring you determines your BMI, as long as your BMI is within standards...you're good. Not everyone is built the same thats why they have the BMI options

Take control of your diet. Keep metabolism going. 5 to 6 meals daily.
Body weight x 10 = rested metabolic rate x life factor = weight maintenance.
Life factors: 1.4 very lite
1.6 lite
1.8 active
Example:
200 x 10= 2000 x 1.8 = 3600 caloies.
1/2 lbs 250 calories weekly. 1 lbs 500 calories weekly. 1 1/2 lbs 750 calories weekly. 2 lbs 1000 calories weekly.
3600 - 1000 calories 2 lbs weekly = 3100 calories. 3100 / 6 meals = 600 calories.

As BMI increases so does the chance of having health problems so it is good to keep track of BMI but not be overly worried about it.
