Xenical is going Over-The-Counter. It's some kind of fat-blocker drug, and my father used it a few years back with no problems and lost lots of weight. What do you guys think about this?
Yeah, I hear Xenical/Alli requires the user to already be on a low-fat diet, or else you're in for a less-than-fun experience. I went to Wal-Mart and they're already getting the merchandising stuff in place. They're selling a book for $20 as a "companion" to the drug, with recipes and workout advice and such. But there's a space on the shelf for the display, sitting empty, waiting to be filled on the 15th.
It refers to the unpleasant side-effects as "Treatment effects", which only appear if you eat more than 15g of fat per meal; they include loose and oily stools and gas with oily discharge. Great. I can't wait to hear about the really unmotivated who just grab the drug, not read a thing on it and get upset when they chow down on pizza and burgers and stain their pants every time they release emissions.
I'm weighing it (pun unintended, but still present). I'm already on a low-fat diet, I'm already working out daily, and am already losing weight at a very good clip. I'm motivated to do the task, but I wonder if I could do more with this stuff.
Though, I guess the real problem is if I take the drug and continue to lose weight... if I can look in the mirror and say it's all me, or if it's a drug. And in reality, I'd rather be able to look in the mirror and KNOW I did it myself.. so I'm probably going to pass this up and just keep hoofing my mileage daily, doing my sit-ups, pushups and cardio, and eating sensibly.
(I've also got three Phys Ed. classes this fall to go with my regular college classes, and I'm sure if I can't lose weight doing Volleyball, Soccer and Cardio-kickboxing each day, then I'm probably better off NOT losing it).
