I'm 16 years old and I have my life set on joining the National Guard in a year. But I have a weight problem. I am pretty underweight. I am 5'6 tall and less then 110 lbs. I'm very skinny, though I am looking for information to help gain weight. I do not have an eating problem. I eat more than just about everyone I know, but, my metabolism makes me crap like a goose. Right now I don't meet the guards minimum weight requirement and I want to get working on that ASAP. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

First off kid, you better make that two years. If memory serves me right, you may have to get your folks to sign off on you joining at 17. By then, you may have filled out some and your question would become moot.
Have you discussed the issue with a doctor? They may be able to check and make sure there isn't a physical reason you're scrawny. Much as I hate to recommend this, you may have to hit your local GNC and see what they have to promote weight gain. Also, if you haven't already, discuss this with a recruiter. It may be there is a waiver process for someone in your situation. |

I know what your going thou. Should check out my topic it might give you idea's. Me i was 18 and 110 pound's it was a shameful but you put a large pizza in front of me and bam it was gone. people like us can gain 1 pound in a month and lose 5 in a day it seems.
One thing I would like to stress out is planing and willing to do what's got to be done. You need to plan your day's around this. You got to get in the mind set of it can be done. Eat healthy don't put just junk in your mouth. There going to say eat 5 full meals a day naw forget that. eat 500 to 600 cal's every few hour's and add a mix fruit smoothly in between eating but don't over do it you just got to get more then 2000 or 3000 a day to start off. your work out should start off small with push up's. start off doing 5 then add 5 every other day. you dont got to work out everyday just 3 times a week. keep it simple at first so you wont be loseing more weight then you put on. this guy's can give you some good idea's. remember planning you be gaining 2 pounds a week or more. 2 pounds times 12 weeks= 24 pounds 24 weeks 48 so on. youll be ready in no time.just got to keep to it as there is no short term process that is healthy. |
