I figured I would start a thread.. you guys seem to do a lot to encourage people.. and all the advice I have gotten from these forums really truly help.
So now... I started at 280... 3 weeks later.. I've lost a total of 18 lbs. I'll keep this updated. I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF!!! (By the way, if anyone has any questions on what I'm doing just ask, also, if this is an inappropriate thread... please let me know and delete it, I don't want to step on any toes.) |

i lost 70 lbs in a total of 3 1/2 weeks. Because of surgery i took the "easy" way out trying to get in shape fast i regret it not but meh i guess i have to cope with my actions.

Hey man I'm in the same boat. Started at 286 down into the 260s now. I seem to have plateaued and haven't seen much change in the last couple weeks. What are you doing? I'm looking to switch up my routine and see how taking a new angle will effect the weight loss.

Outstanding. Keep up the good work.
Whatever you do, don't cut any corners and definitely stay away from the weight loss drugs unless a doctor prescribes them. |

Hey Trigger,
Were you AD when you had surgery? Looking at that myself. Lots of medical problems and some ahead. |

I have 3 daughters at home. They can get obsessed over things like how their hair looks and especially weight. They watch these TV shows that show super-skinny Hollywood models. Do you really think those people are happy? I bet they puke after every meal.
Don't desire a perfect body. As long as your sex parts work, enjoy life and have another piece of cheesecake. |

About 1999 I was told by my family doctor that my blood sugar had risen from the 90's to 123. She said that if I let it get above 126 I'd be classified as having diabetes II. So my young lady 1st Lt Navy Doctor told me becareful what I ate (sent me to a nutrisinist),and advised me to get out of my work at lunch and walk during my lunch hour. So I did.
I walked for 7 months for 40 minutes each lunch hour and drank lots of water during the day. I lost 17 pounds and 4 inches off my waistline. The result was that my blood sugar dropped back into the 90's and stayed there. I was happy and continued my walking until late 2001 when a lady rear-ended me in a vehicle accident and caused me some serious whiplash injuries in neck and shoulders resulting in serious pains. Everytime I walked I had to start taking extra pain pills to beat back the pains. Worried about drug addition I quit walking. At this point I was give a new doctor (Navy Doctor with rank of LT Commander) so with his experance and rank I felt in good hands. On our first visit and check-up we covered my total medical history and he updated my medications. He continued my blood tests for 3 1/2 years and all was good I believed as I was never told that my blood sugar was bad, just always informed what my colestrol levels were. Just past 3 1/2 years came my cardioic heart check-up with my heart doctor. He pulled up my blood test results for the past 4 years and said that all the colestrol readings were normal along with liver and kidneys. He then said something the shocked me, "What's with this glucose blood sugar of 199 thats been on the increase for the past 3 years - what's up with that?" All I could tell him was that 3 1/2 years ago I was told it was doing good at 99. He then said, "Go see you family doctor right away!" All that LT Commander Doctor had was a bounch of excuses. So I made offical complaints to the Navy Hospital's Commander @ Bremerton. All I got back was a whitewash saying that "I did not present to my doctor with blood sugar problems." Give me a break! He took 2 to 3 blood test a year for what, give the lab tech's some workload. This was done by a Military Navy Doctor, in a Military Hospital, and on federal Military Property! So I consider it Military connected and the fight is on with the VA! After 24 years of military service in the USAF I have some injuries and VA disiblity ratings. Weather you are in perfect health or not, you must start a plan and stick with it. I don't believe you have to beat yourself up in a gym, you just have to get out and walk or jog some and be careful what you eat. Time will take off the rest. Fast diet weight loss sounds good but history has shown that real fast weight loss has the tendency to come back easier than slower weight loss. If you are now walking, joging, or going to a gym and you are happy with it - stick with it as time will show you results. Remember, as you loose weight and feel better you are also lowering your risk of dieases. Good luck to us all. |

About 7 months ago i went to my doctor and i told him i wanted to join the USN but one of the things that was holding me back was the weight. He prescribed me some weight loss pills that at first i didnt see any results but when i got serious and combine the pills with an excersise plan(mainly job and bike) and changed the way i ate, the weight has been falling off. Will it be a problem when I go to MEPS and they asked me if i have taken any medication and i let them know the pills the doctors prescribed me?
