I am 20 years old and I am in the Navy. I haven't been in that long and I've had to work a heck of a lot of myself off just to be able to get in. And now that I'm in and I've made it through boot camp, I've kind of let myself go. I've been so down in the gutters lately that the only thing that makes me happy is eating food and drinking soda. I mean A LOT of soda. I could drink a 2 liter in one sitting, and keep going... I don't know what to do to stop this stupid cycle. I struggle everytime it comes around time to do the official PRT test and I fail all of the mach prt's. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be freaking awesome!
Cut the soda. Make it a treat. Drink water. Drink Ice Tea. Drink Diet Soda if you must, but do not drink the type of volume. I no longer buy two liter bottles. It is more, but it is portion control.
Also, exercise more often. It will make you feel better.
Oh my! You must have awful bloating and gas!! You still have friends? Soda is sugar, salt and carbonated water. Learn to reach for a bottle of water. When you go to the market make a concerted effort to NOT put a 2 Liter into your cart. Go ahead, look at the end caps and the soda aisle, but do not buy anything. Then give yourself a pat on the back for not doing so once you leave the store. In general, think before you buy and soon you'll wean yourself off the junk.
Ruthart, You need to know that all soda pop has a ACID pH, which tests between 2.0 to 3.5 on a pH scale. Your blood, however is a pH between 7.30 - 7.45, and you put your body in a very unhealthy acidosis condition every time you drink soda pop, even diet soda! There are 8 buffering systems the body uses to nutralize acids and balance pH, but when they become overwhelmed, as in your case, it severely compromises cellular intergity and will eventually cause a complete metabolic breakdown where even more serious health problems will manifest. You are in an "acidosis" condition, and I know, because I was there too. Now I drink alkaline water and when you find out how horrible pop is for your body, I gaurentee you will find something much better! By the way, get off all food containing CORN, and High Fructose Corn Syrup as well. Eat healthy and get your life back - at 20 you will recover quickly! You worked too hard to be beaten down by destructive ACID eating health habits.
Just one 12 ounce can of soda can contain over 200 calories. A two litre over 1000 calories. I knew a person who dropped 25 lbs by just getting off of soda. I drink Iced tea with artificial sweetner and lots of water. I am diabetic, so it really helps withn that and can also help with weight reduction. Substitute the soda for iced tea or water. Water is best. You will lose weight. But no one can force you to stop drinking soda, you have to regain that strong will power, the same willpower you had to get in! Good luck!
