Interesting quote from an interesting guy, Michael Bakunyin, a kind of "father of anarchism." His political position was somewhere to the left of Karl Marx, whom he knew in Germany. Like most utopians, he vision for the future wasn't very realistic and sometimes self contradictory, but I suppose he would have approved of, oh, secession from the USA and membership in the Alaskan Independent Party as a good first step towards anarchy.

Of course nobody knows what's in Sarah Palin's heart, what her motives "really" are. All we know is what she tells us. But what she tells us sounds at times like schizophrenic word salad -- vague generalization, garbled syntax, mixed-up platitudes, rambling and disjointed reasoning -- "I'm NOT a quitter," she says, quitting.

What we can gather from her words as they tumble out is that she's some kind of populist who, like Bakunyin, distrusts educated people and owes her primary political allegiance to her state of Alaska. That's why she's resigning. So that she can do more good for Alaska -- while she's out of office on the lecture circuit and promoting her book on talk shows.

It's all delivered in a chirpy, soccer-mom voice from a pretty woman with sexy legs, true, but does anything she says and does make sense to you?

Of course, quoting that quote , cuts both ways , doesn't it?

The difference is that my original thought is posted both above and below the quotes I use. I have also been posting my original thoughts all over military.com forums over the last 4 years. Just ask the mods, whom I've surely given a few headaches to, over the years. Big Grin

The quotes I use, apply to the topic at hand and I use them to enforce the point I am trying to make. Of course, it doesn't work most of the time but you can't fault me for trying.

Here's another qoute for furthur ridicule by the nay-sayers. Enjoy Wink

Angelheart --- Don't give up! "And let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9

You are needed on this website... otherwise the "emotions-guided", happily ignorant "don't-confuse-me-with-the facts" /"Proud-to-be-Ignorant" posters will have taken over another website.

It is amazing that when you used a dictionary to define a word ... you got "flack"... Roll Eyes. If you had just posted emotional feelings (not backed up by facts or dictionaries) you would not have been hassled.

Here is a tip Angelheart: Put the perpetually ignorant (and the DNC operatives who plague this site) posters on "Ignore". It is simple. Put your cursor on the screen name of the offender/dunderhead and click. One of the options says place poster xyz123 on my "Ignore" list. Click. You will save money on Rolaids and aspirin. Wink

--- ----- ------- ------- ------ ----- ----

Once again to the Thread starter and the others who get your news via The NYslimes/NPR/Pacifica/Pmsnbc-nbc/cnn/Wash.Post/A P./Reuters... try broadening your info sources. Watch Governor Sarah Palin's resignation speech on "Anchorage Daily News". It was about a week ago. She explained why she is resigning... You don't have to guess. I wish she would stay on but, when the rabid-fangs of the leftist pit are set loose on decent folks, the legal fees can mount up quickly.

Use your search engine! She resigned, not quit. The Lt. Governor was onhand and her staff. The transition will be done in order.

btw-One of the posters who is usually an OK guy and a vet (Ret.) on this site made a comment that since we only have 700,000 people up here our Governor isn't ready for the "big-leagues" . Wrongo! Our State is huge and has 586,000+ square miles of land, and more coastline than the rest of the U.S.A.. We have 4/5 major military Forts/Bases and several smaller posts. We are very close to the missiles/bombers of the Russkies, North Koreans and the Red Chinese. {Some of you Cold War vets remmeber the DEW line.}

We have natural resources of timber/oil/natural gas/salmon/halibut/crab/minerals/furs. We export many items/products. We have learned to survive (and build/grow) in a place which is often not friendly to humans. If someone wants to fix their problems in the Lower 48,,, come on up here this summer and see how our State works.

We have several competing groups up here from the "Natives"/tribal folks who want no intrusion on their land, to the mineral companies that provide jobs for many folks, to the commercial-family fishermen in the many coastal villages/towns, to the sport-fishermen and the tourist ships and the several businesses that cater to them, and the small-but-vocal tree-huggin'/animal rights wackos who don't even think sled dogs should be used to pull dog-sleds. Alaska State Troopers who do police work in remote places that only Polar Bears are comfortable in. Subsistence hunters who hunt moose and caribou or their families would starve to death. Construction companies and equipment companies; and truck drivers and road crews that drive the roads and get freight delivered; and small villages that can be accessed only by Bush Pilots/Float planes. Guard/Reserve members who augment-help the Regulars to defend America by defending Alaska.

So before insulting us and our Governor... go over to Alaska Airlines and book a flight up here. Or, rent a winnebago and drive up here. Or hop on the Ferry that starts in Washington and visit us. But please - get your facts straight.

The Mother of a soldier deserves some respect, ya know. She was wise enough to raise a good soldier and that is a big plus for me. She's smart enough to turn all of this around.

It's too much work to put them all on ignore swremwin. I appreciate the tip though.

I would keep it up but none of them will listen. They don't realize that they are not only slandering our Governor but they are also slandering Alaska and her people. They expect us to lay down and take it even though they would not. You and I both know that this is the greatest place on the planet. We really don't want others to realise that and come here do we?

It is amazing what hatred will do to some people. People I would never expect to be part of that bitter crowd, become part of it and I completely missed it when it happened.

I think it is all about the fear. I can understand it, sort of, because it is the way I have always felt about our CIC. I don't let the fear control me though, like some do here.

Let them rant and cry about what could happen. I am tired of banging my head against a brick wall. In the end I know they will be proven wrong about her even if they never actually admit it. They really don't know her even though they think they do. She will suprise them one day.

However, I have decided I will make fun of them all now.

Face it, Palin is just not national candidate material. Whatever good she can do at home does not seem to be able to translate to the national stage.

Maybe because I have lived in Cali. My family, including my son is in cali. However, what comments are you referring to?

I do not disagree that she is not, at this time nor will she be, in 2011, national candidate material. I am only talking about who she is and that she does have a good heart, she is an extremely strong person and that she means well. I believe that she is only an issue because people continue to be obsessed with her and cannot get on with other, more important issues that are currently ongoing in this nation.

Have you also lived in MA and PA? Because you seem to enjoy picking on them too. Smile

I won't disagree that there are people who see Palin in the worst light possible and think that she can do no good. But on the flip side there are those who seem to think she walks on water.

I agree that she means well. I have different views on what is best for the country than she does. Doesn't make either of us evil. Personally I wish her well, but for the good of the country I would like her to stay out of national politics. And if she keeps poking her nose into the national spotlight I will continue to make jokes about her, just like I do all politicians.
