It doesn’t sound chauvinistic, I wish one parent could stay home again, but nowadays most families NEED two incomes.

As for her family; no family is perfect and she publically supported her family, mistakes and all!!

How many young children learned what a B*J was via the 5 o’clock news no thanks to a “perfectly spoken” political family/male?

With all due respect GWG, don't believe everything you hear. Her family is less disfunctional than most. Her daughter didn't do anything out of the ordinary when you consider that she was a teenage girl who didn't have the experience or skills in judgement to see the little puke for what he was. In this day and age when sex is everywhere you look, how suprising and unusual is the situation that people are blaming Sarah for? Many teenage girls have the deluded belief in a Prince charming and they tend to jump in without thinking. They can be naive and when betrayed, they can feel the same pain (if not more) as an adult. Ask yourself why people stoop so low as to judge her and her mother when their own lives are so obviously empty.

It isn't reasonable and the fact is, her family has a closeness with each other and they don 't turn their backs on each other when one of them makes a bad choice or a mistake. That is a good thing isn't it?

Confused

I could care less about Palin's family problems. Just because her daughters each has a "woe is me" story to match doesn't make either acceptable, even if they do fit into the "well, everyone else is doing it" category of peer pressure rationalization that is the mainstream of thought since about 1970 - -

In fact, if Palin and her family were Democrats, they would all be the "poster children" for the new, thoroughly modernized, uninhibited, liberal family. They could knock Ozzie Osborne and his crew back into the stoned-age where they belong!! The only reason all the ultra-liberal talking heads, comedians, and Oprah/Ellen/Rosie-types are giving her such a hard time is, despite the fact she fits all the qualifications of the feminist movement, she isn't following into lock-step behind their ultra-leftist political mantras... So they are jealous of her, fear her, and see her as a traitor to the bra-burning 70s... If she were to switch sides, they would put her up as Obama's next running mate and love her to pieces!!

What has she accomplished - ?!

What has she accomplished - ?!

I see you have been listening to the media hacks. That is suprising.

What has she accomplished?

Here are a few things...

City Council member, President of Alaska Conference of Mayors, Mayor of Wasilla Alaska for ten years. Governor of Alaska for two years

Cut 13 percent of Alaska's Budget, the biggest single-year line-item veto total in this state's history.

Brought transparency and accountability to our state government.

In 2007, over the objections of oil companies, Palin worked with the Alaska state legislature to approve a major increase in taxes on the oil industry.

In 2007, set the standard in association with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for embedded transition teams in Iraq & Afghanistan, making sure that there was a dedicated team tracking down former Alaska Territorial Guard members and their surviving families to get them the proper discharge certificates promised by the federal government some 60 years ago.

She signed into law, designation of the Purple Heart Trail, which runs to Fairbanks from the Canadian border. The Veterans Memorial Endowment Fund will provide more than $12,500 to work on veteran monuments and memorials across the state, Stand Down programs in Anchorage and Fairbanks continued to assist veterans in need. More than 700 veterans and family members were provided access to veterans services, hot meals, warm clothes, employment opportunities and good company during these one-day events.

House Bill 3001 for awarding a contract to TransCanada Alaska for developing and building a pipeline stretching for 1,715 miles from the Prudhoe Bay treatment plant to Alberta Canada. It received bipartisan support and was signed into law by Governor Palin in June. Natives of Alaska have dreamed of a pipeline for more than 30 years. Sarah Palin in less than two years got the bill passed and the framework is now laid for them to move forward with the project. More than 36,000 miles of pipeline is now operated by TransCanada Corporation in North America.

Energy Package signed August 25, 2008.
House Bill 4001 and Senate bill 4002 were signed into law by Governor Palin on August 25, 2008. SB 4002 pays $1,200 to each resident who qualifies. The money for these payments comes from the state's natural resource revenue. This bill also suspends the state's tax on gasoline. She also signed a proclamation declaring September to be energy efficiency month in Alaska. She encourages residents to use energy more efficiently during this month.

Administrative Order 242 signed August 20, 2008.
This order puts together a co-op of the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Revenue to work with organizations who wish to commercialize Alaska's North Slope natural gas. The Order encourages the departments to support any who are pursuing development of natural gas projects which are liquefiable and economic.

Westwind 2, a jet was purchased on payments by the former governor. Payments of $62,492.79 were being made quarterly. It was sold to a businessman from Valdez named Larry Reynolds, who paid $2.1 million for the jet, shy of the original $2.7 million purchase price.

Nice cliche's but meaning what?

Republicans don't get national populatiry by raising taxes on other Republicans

How does that qualify her to be Commander in Chief of America's Nuclear Arsenal?

All of which would take a budget of less than a Million dollars, so how would that qualify her to write and over-see a National Budget of Trillions, while having to face down Congress, the Russians, the Chinese, the North Koreans, Chavez in Vensuela, an the Iranians at the same time??

Would that include the Russians, since they are claiming much of the off shore areas under the polar ice caps?

You know, if she actually fulfilled her full term, she might actually get a few things done. By leaving, could she actually be opening the door for her detractors and opponents to come in and undo whatever she has done?

You folks in Alaska gotta be wondering if she just used you for stepping stones, right? We've had two Governors recently do just exactly that: Mike Levitt that GW Bush appointed to run EPA. And John Huntsman whom Obama just appointed Ambassador to China - vote 'em in so they can turn their backs on ya - -

So, you want to keep her for Governor, or pawn her off on the rest of the Nation?

A lot more money for Alaska and the things we need.

Brought transparency and accountability to our state government.

Why not ask Obama? He promised the same thing... Roll Eyes

It means she got rid of a couple of crooks by finding out the truth about what they were doing. That is before she was stopped by REPUBLICANS here, who have been keeping her from doing her job by throwing baseless ethics violations against her.

In 2007, over the objections of oil companies, Palin worked with the Alaska state legislature to approve a major increase in taxes on the oil industry.

She raised taxes on the oil companies not the republicans. Where did you even get that?

I never said it did. I was just answering your question.

She signed into law, designation of the Purple Heart Trail, which runs to Fairbanks from the Canadian border. Again, I never said it did qualify her for anything but doing good things for the military and the vets. And why is everything about the money?

No, Alaskans have always had a stake in the gas and oil we have. That is why we get a yearly check from profits of the oil pipeline. It is called profit for the shareholders.

Administrative Order 242 signed August 20, 2008.
This order puts together a co-op of the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Revenue to work with organizations who wish to commercialize Alaska's North Slope natural gas. What the hell do the russians or the polar ice caps have to do with the north slope?

I know and understand why she is doing it another way. I have tried to explain it on a couple of the many stupid threads about her,to no avail. None of you have a clue of what her plans are. She wants to do good things and she will find a way. I do not think it will be what you are all afraid of. You can all go on and on about this and you still will not know. Accept it and get on with what is really important because this is not.

I am sorry for you and your experience with your own politicians. I have only known two honest politicians in my life and they are both in Alaska. One chose to get out because of the curruption. The other one is the same person everyone seems to be so obsessed with in spite of the fact, it has nothing to do with those of you in the lower 48.

We are grateful to Sarah for doing SOMETHING to fight the corruption.

I never believed her to be qualified to be VP or CIC. I am disgusted with the way she has been treated. It is a disgrace to my species. Too bad none of the haters realize how ugly they are. People are so terrified of her that it all comes spewing forth in waves and waves of hatred. I'm sure the haters are proud of themselves. Frankly, I am ashamed of my fellow men and women.

You don't have to like what she has done for us. It doesn't matter. She has done good things, she is a good person and you haters are just ignorant. In the long run it will all fade away into another ignorant time in our history and she will still be fighting for the home we love.

Great Post Angelheart ! Applause

To anyone who gets their info from the regular news media ( who register and vote for the Dem. Party by about 90%)... please get your info about Governor Sarah Palin by watching/listening to her own words at the press conference at the Lake near Wasilla.

You can see/hear it by Googling "Anchorage Daily News" and looking for the video. She is/was a decent woman/Mom/Wife.

She has been very supportive of The Alaska National Guard -(even did a commercial for them while sitting in a helicopter.) and her son is serving in the U.S. Army and deployed to Iraq. How many skunks in the news media and the Dem.Party (if they ever had a child) have a son serving in our Armed Forces ? How many support our Military and support our troops deployed in the GWOT ? Not many.

I wish she would stay as our Governor, but I, like Angelheart understand why Governor Palin is resigning. The fangs and fungus of the leftos and the depraved have been aimed at Governor Palin and her family since she gave that excellent speech at the RNC.

Why people on a website called Military.com have to insult and ridicule a Blue Star Mom is a mystery.

Hey, I'm not sorry at all - They were both overly rich Republicans that feathered their own beds and those of other rich types while driving down wages and opening up the state to illegal aliens by cooperating as little as possible with the Federal authorities to root or run them out - As a result, almost every working class job in this state, along with every housing area in low-cost areas of every town, are being over-run with people who don't speak English . . .

The last I looked, Alaska has a population of about 700,000. That is about the population of Salt Lake county here in Utah. That's why I consider Palin a political light-weight. She doesn't even have to deal with as many people as a County Commissioner her in this sparely populated state. I considered Obama a light-weight too, which he was. But he did have some in experience in a very diverse city, Chicago, which has more people in it than Alaska and Utah combined (Chicago is still the third largest U.S. city, with 2.85 million people.)...

For her to come onto the political scene and determine she is going to tell 350,000,000 people how the country should be run, as well as go toe to toe with the numerous nuclear threats on this planet is more than just a bit of a stretch - It's a joke!

How come you are calling people names? Did I call you a name? Calling Palin a light-weight is just a political fact. Seeing her as a parent that maybe ought to do a little bit more parenting is just a fact. I don't hate her. I might pity her a little for her gullibility and naivety, as I would also feel for anyone too enamored with her to see the forest for the trees - -

Well I'll give her some credit for finally realizing that she can't stand the heat in the kitchen; is finally getting out.

Maybe next time she's think twice before running for public office or make public appearances.(probably not, she's addicted to the bright lights like MJ was to Rx drugs.)
I wonder if she will reflect on it (like Collin powell did); realize that the scrutiny that you put yourself & the family through when stepping into the public's realm may not be worth it.

I'm sorry GWG. I have lost all patience with those who keep ranting and slandering our Governor in so many clueless ways. Expecially when she is not their business anymore. I am tired of explaining things to people who just don't listen. Calling the haters ignorant is just a fact and nothing more. It means they do not know better that's all. Again I apoligize because I didn't mean any disrespect.

Thanks swremwin. Beer

Calling haters ignorant is not just a fact. It is an opinion. A fact is, she quit. She will always be known now as a quitter and if she attempts to persue politics on the National level she will spend all her time defending herself for quitting. And if you think the Dems are going to do it her you are mistaken, Any Repub she faces will pound away at that. The likes of Karl Rove will chew her up and spit her out if he is not working for her.

I disagree.

ig⋅no⋅rant

–adjective 1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.

2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.

3. uninformed; unaware.

4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.

The people on this site and in this country that hate her, do so for reasons of WILLFUL ignorance. That is a fact whether you acknowledge it or not. They do not want to know the truth. The ones that spew so much venom do not KNOW her. They do not listen to those who DO know her. They prefer to listen to hacks. What she did here in our state is simply none of their business. It is one ignorant thread after another. Believe it or not, it doesn't matter anymore.

Didn't Nixon Switch parties early in his Political career and then go on to become President?

Strange things happen in the political world.

Thank you Mrs Webster. But just coping and pasting the definition of ignorant does not defend a statement that is a fact that haters are ignorant and not just an opinion.

And that is all you got out of my post? Good job! Be proud! How about this copy and paste job, Einstein?

quote:
Both rational and irrational hate mask personal insecurities. Everyone experiences personal insecurities in varying degrees throughout their lives. The more insecure a person feels, the larger the hate mask. Most people concentrate on the important issues in life, such as earning a living, rearing a family, and achieving personal goals. These pursuits give meaning and value to life.2 Nonetheless, irrational hate bleeds through day-to-day activities in the form of racial barbs and ethnic humor. Not all insecure people are haters, but all haters are insecure people.

Either way, I am tired of the hatred and the ignorance. Not an opinion. A fact based on what takes place on these forums about Palin. To prove that, read all of the ignorant threads previously mentioned. I will not argue about it anymore. If people want to stay blissfully ignorant, then by all means, carry on.
