Perhaps "General Discussion" can be the replacement for the read only In The News. It would be a shame if our old familiar group of folks defected. Whisper

Thought that I'd like to express my true feelings, but the rules prevent me from truly expressing them them. Let's just say that it begins with an F and ends with a K and that doesn't stand for Fire Truck...
How do you even get to it on a read only basis, I can't find it...

You know, I think I'm gonna defect to another site. "In the news" was one of my favorite forums.

Huge mistake.

Yeah, but where? I think I'll try here for a while and see what happens. Man, all those posts on all those subjects, just flushed. I mean, it's not like I'm an author or something, but it did have some good references by some people on there...
Respectfully, SUNLINER81

A picture is worth a thousand words... Since Military.com office is in San Francisco I should have know that sooner or later the far, far left loons will dictate what is appropriate!!! Soon you will see more changes that will reflect with the socialist PC Crowd.

I had no idea that their office was headquartered in SanFran. Now it's beginning to make sense. (or not)

You might try here. It's a new forum dedicated to History but there's plenty of other subforums, including a Current Events/In The News section.

It might not be your cup of tea but it's worth a look. It's "owned" by a guy who posts here occasionally.

Let's try for a consensus as to whether to use "Point-Counterpoint" or "General Discussion" as the substitute for "In the News".

I'd vote for "General Discussion" since the name seems to imply, at least to me, that it would more likely include "In the News" type discussions.

On second thought, perhaps we should select "Conspiracy Theory" as it more aptly describes what happened to "In the News".

C/CP would come the closest, because most people go for the pros and cons of the topic - at least until they go after each other - Roll Eyes Big Grin

Looks like you are totally correct on your assessment. Seems we were lied to also. They said it would be a "read only" page, if so, where is it? I can't find it and not only that, the section on my profile has the send mail deleted from it. That happen to any of you?
I've also had posts on another thread just delete. I wonder if this one will too?
All of my posts on ITN disappeared from my previous post pages and the page count went down to next to zip, that happen to others too?...
Respectfully, SUNLINER81

ADDED NOTE: I just went and checked and my ITN posts are back, I may have to eat my words!
I will check more and let you know what's up!...
A somewhat happier and felling better...
Respectfully, SUNLINER81

Right now I'm in the "mill about smartly" mode and where you all go is where I will too...
