Happy 4th of July!....
Let' S get this started now,
So it will be out there on the fourth!

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE
FLAG,
OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA ,

AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR
WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE
NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE,
WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

KEEP IT LIT!! KEEP IT LIT!
For all of our other military personnel, where ever they may be.
Please
Support all of the troops defending our Country.

And God Bless our Military
Who are protecting our Country for our Freedom.
Thanks to them, and their sacrifices, we can celebrate the 4th of July.

We must never forget who gets the credit for the freedoms we have,
Of which we should be eternally grateful.

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform;
So young, so tall, so proud.
With hair cut square and eyes alert,
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil;
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen.'
When a flag had draped a coffin
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea.
Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
No, freedom isn't free.
Enjoy Your Freedom
And
God Bless Our Troops.

When you receive this,
Please stop for a moment
And say a prayer for our servicemen.
Of all the gifts you could give a U.S. Soldier, prayer is the very best one.

Over the 4th I am going to be with a group of like minded people at our state Capital telling them that we don't like the taxes and the job thing here is real bad.

Cookout and everything.
God Bless America

Over the 4th of July holiday period I am going to stay home with my dog, and my booze and just watch movies and DVD's and hope and pray that one of my neighbors houses burns down from all the fireworks going on outside. Stupid idiots. All of them. Celebrating something that no longer means anything to most Americans.

Marching in the 4th of July Parade in Oradell, NJ. AT night the wife & I have to babysit the horses, fireworks really freak them out, but they seem to handle it better when people are around.

My wife does volunteer work Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays so nothing till the evening. I'll find something to throw on the grill and open a bottle of wine.

How come I pressed "One for English" and still can't understand a word the dude is saying?

I like to watch the fireworks show along with the Boston Pops alongside Boston Harbor, from my livingroom on TV, not actually in the crowd.

One of the most memorable 4th of July displays I can remember was sitting up on the mount director of the 5" gun, located above the bridge of the cutter I was on. A local rock station, WCOZ, had music that coordinated with the display. You didn't even need your own radio as so many radios were blasting in the crowd of boats that you could hear it no problem.

That was either in '83 or '84, can't remember which.

I just thought, 4th of July 1981, was in a barracks in the reception area just prior to starting basic. Me & a couple of fellows watched some fireworks off in the distance.

One of the best 'fireworks' show I remember was July 4 in Nam. Them tracers and 'rockets' were very real ... and Puff the Dragon put on such a show that night. Why was it so good? 'Cause all them 'fireworks' saved my butt Big Grin

The next 4th of July fireworks that stands out in my mind was July 4, 1989 in St. Louis, MO. We just arrived in the St. Louis area and friends took us down to the Arch. We laid on the grass under the Arch and they shot the firewokrs off from a barge on the Mississippi.
WOW !!! When them boomers went off it shook the ground. Reminded me of that night in Nam ... and I just smiled and said "Bring It On!" Smile
