I think she is one of only a few canidates that could disarm clinton.

Clintons is running off of the emotion of being the first female president.

Rice could have run off of the emotion of being the first woman + the first black presidnet. On top of that IMO secretary rice is waay smarter than hillary.

Now that would make the race interesting indeed. Rice would pull a lot of the women votes, that is, those that are going to vote for Hillary based solely on her being female. Same way with the blacks that would vote for Obama simply because he is black. Rice also has the experience factor from what she has done in the past. Inetersting indeed.

Miss Rice has a problem of not doing much in the last two years. If she took a stand on something that was news worthy she would have had my vote. Now she is just waiting this out to see if she is picked up by the next administration.

Made the suggestion a long time ago to the Republican Party Leadership that Colin Powell and Condee Rice should run as a team. It would not matter which went Pres or V-Pres, they would be a very difficult team for anyone to beat - -

The Answer - - forget it.

I really think the Republican Party has no desire to win the next election. That would dump the Middle East mess squarely in the lap of the Reid/Polosei/Billary crowd, and the Republicans would be in the catbird's seat from which they can do all the sniping they wish!! Wink Big Grin

Hillary has the support of women who were going to vote Dem regardless.
No one is voting for her due to being a woman.
Look at her base they were never going to vote Rep.
However I think many liberal Reps and Independents dont want to see the ultra right anymore but its not because of Hillary its because the ultra right has "chased" out many liberal Reps women and men.

I agree SEC.Rice has been very patient with fraud.thieves who robbed her Dept. blind on no bid contracts, etc.so she would be perfect for whatever job you can imagine for her.I didnt hear anything from her in six years or so and i thought she had done a great job of staying out of the VP s way.Her field of expertise is actually the Soviet Union and our relations with them look a little shaky right now. They are selling our enemies weapons including nueclear{gwb} material, and our State Deptartment has been awol on this issue. You folks are right thou, this country has gone to hell in a handbasket in the six years Hillary has been in the Senate. She has used her power to alienate all of our allies, run the national debt up to new heights, and get over three thousand soldiers killed in Iraq looking for Osama Ben Forgotten.Condi is a real genius Kegler, her specialty seems to be running around in circles. This is one republican who wont be voting for this group of idiots again.Fool me once, shame on them, fool me again and it would appear that i am a true blue republican leeming who likes his bs served fresh daily.I wouldnt vote for either of these ladies for a variety of reasons but i bet the presidents fans will because things are going so well.

Sec. Rice has stated many times that she has no interest what so ever in running for president and no desire to hold that office. So, why would anyone even consider someone for that position knowing they have no interest or desire to be in that position? I cannot think of a worst candidate than someone not interested in the job.

No one intimately connected to the Bush administration would have a chance in hell winning in '08.

You might be right if the majority of Americans have become socialists with an affinity with Hugo Chavez and the former USSR... Roll Eyes

Someone polling at about 30% approval is like a lead weight attached to the leg of a candidate connected to him.

Still better than a democrat-led congress polling at 11 percent...

Democrats specifically in Congress are polling significantly higher than Republicans in Congress:

http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_dem.htm
http://www.pollingreport.com/cong_rep.htm

There's about a 10-point spread.

Democrats in Congress aren't polling significantly worse than Bush, and Congress usually has a low approval rating anyway.

Plus, people have more trust in Congress to deal with issues than Bush.

I don't believe anyone really trusts the government either way. That's why us conservatives strongly believe in personal responsibility, not government reliability.

Running for either of those reasons is selfish in itself. Either one is a poor reason for running for the office of President. We may never get either for President for another twenty thirty or more years, but that would be better than someone who only motivation is to be the "FIRST".
I believe I would rather have the first President to achieve real peace or an International hero. Wanting a President because they are either Black Or Female is a dangerous mindset not because either would be unqualified but because they would be a "fluke" not a natural choice only motivated by a person's race or gender. The risk of calamity would be high for a person who might not be ready to be President.
