My son was sworn into USAF on OCT 1st 2009 and signed a contract for a 4 yr AD enlistment with 2 yrs IAD. He was instructed to list 4 jobs and the last one being open general at MEPS. 7 weeks go by and his recruiter calls him and says a job in Cryber Security AFS opened up and asked if he would be interested (wasn't one of his choices). He said absolutely and 2 days later the recruiter calls and wants him to sign the contract for the job. He is to go sign tomorrow Nov 4, 2009 and has a ship date of Feb 2, 2010.
Question? Once he signs this contract, is this his job for sure, or can they change it if they want and assign him something different? Or during Basic will he have an opportunity to select a different job, if one more interesting is available? Please only some one who knows these answers for sure reply, NO speculation please. |

This is a duplicate post of the one you earlier today in Recruiting. With out the contract in hand every answer you receive should have some speculation and should include the standard phrase, "the needs of the service always takes priority." As you know from your previous posts, Recruiting Questions is the best place to get these answers We wish your son the very best in his time in the military. A listening ear, a caring heart, an open mind and an extended hand may be all I can offer, but it is yours without charge or Judgment. |

Air Force pretty much works by open slots in schools. If you sign for that slot, you've got it unless the school closes, or the AFSC is discontinued. Of course, you have to pass the course. If you wash out, yer pretty much back out on the street. Because of the tight economy, a lot of people are trying to get in, and few are deciding to get out. (My son is a Chief Master Sergeant Recruiter) So your son is pretty lucky to get any kind of slot at all. Good Luck Wandering and Wondering |
