Sate bennies are set thru the state.

What a person gets from the VA is set by them. Drivers license cost, ect.

There is a table for each state for money given, but I hope another poster can help you with that.

The States do not set limits on what a vet may receive from the VA. Your right about the TV station breaking the news, they break news all the time. It's so broke now nobody can fix it.

Concur with Mainedawg and Sergeant Green...States do NOT set limits of benefits received from the Dept of Veterans Affairs (VA), but each state has every right to determine what benefits (if any) they will offer to veterans who reside (or establish residency) in their states.

i.e. Fla offers free access to state parks, and breaks on other fees and licenses, and also offers a greater property tax deduction based on a vets disability rating.

OK OK, let's step back a minute and look at this.

All federally authorized benefits are issued by that authority.
Veteran Disability and Service connected payments are strictly VA and not subject to State authorization.
If you qualify you can get a "Golden Access Pass" for the "National" Parks and monuments, etc.
Other benefits can be available on the Federal level. You just have to be willing to get the "Manual" and scan it.

A State Park would require a PASS issued by the State. Those States can authorize for a Property Tax reduction for service connected disabilities, License tags and plates for the automobile are a state benefit for the veteran differing on those states rules and regulations. I've seen plates for Veterans, Purple Heart Veterans, Disabled Veterans and Permanently Disabled Veterans, everything except "Granny of Vet" Plates. Those are the kinds of examples of a State benefit of which there are many more or less depending on your States version of the story. It would be interesting to have a page for benefits by State for veterans. We could compare and determine where we might want to live and retire depending on how well that State takes care of it's Veterans.
County benefits are variable and are determined again by that Counties Policies regarding Veterans. You have to do your own research for those bennies.
Again it would be interesting if we could list some of those bennies and compare.

In Arizona the State waives the Vehicle License Tax on one Vehicle and you can get a free hunting and fishing license lifetime, this is for 100% VA disabilities.

Gracieblu:--- What the story might have been talking about is the lop-sided way some states help out the Air and Army National Guard members/Vets in the individual States.

Not all are equal! Lived in Smogifornia for 4 and a half decades and they have one of the worst Benefit systems for the Army and Air National Guard of all the States. Why ? Because the State Legislature is made up of flaming leftists and 1960's peaceniks.
