Never heard of a female Army Ranger?! Entirely too physical - Rangers carry about 200 lbs on their backs, which would tear down a woman's spinal cord in a very short time.
Well she isnt even a Ranger yet. SHe is in basic and has a Female DS who was a ranger.. She really looks up to her as a role-model and says she is thinking about trying out for it also. Im just curious what she would be doing so i can tell her
Sure would like to see that DS Female Ranger..Maybe serve with a Ranger Bat doing a support role...Would also need Ranger School number so I can check it, to see if she even went to Ranger School.
I'm sure there would have been a huge write up as the FIRST women to go though Ranger School and make it.
It means the unit is a Military Police Battalion. There are no female Rangers in the US Army. If you want specific info Google USArmy.com and look for info under careers, MOS (Military Occupational Specialties) or service schools.
There are no female Rangers, and if the Pentagon and the DOD have any tiny molecule of common sense in their collective brains, there never will be.
Rangers are men. Only men can become Rangers. Ranger training is only open to men.
Let's not EVER let any kind of agenda change that. And it's not all about the physical requirements - as tough as those are - it's about the bonding of men into a team. That's what keeps them alive.

What's important Persy, is the very fact that she wants to be a Ranger in the first place! More power to women who aspire to serve the USA in a military role as you your-self, are doing now! Salute to you and all of the gals in service where ever they may be, and God's Speed!
To all those past and present females who have gone to jump school and earned your paratrooper wings I salute you. You have my respect and a small kiss on the forehead. AIRBORNE.

I agree - I think it's highly unlikely that a DS would misrepresent herself that way.
It's possible that the DS is a paratrooper, and that the young female recruit mistook "rigger" - since females have to be in the rigger MOS to go to jump school, I think. Please correct me, if I am mistaken in that, anyone who knows first-hand.
Whatever the accomplishments of the DS, I think it's great for female recruits to be able to have a female role model. I don't think a role model necessarily has to be of the same gender - but it's great for females to see other female Soldiers whose accomplishments they can aspire to.

What about S.F.? can a female become S.F.?
It was a movie for crying out loud! G.I. Jane (Demi Moore). A woman in the ranks will destroy it's integrity. The bonding of men in these special groups is extremely important, a woman will alter that no matter how hard she tries to fit in.
