Celebrities seem to OD on prescription drugs including pain pills. Then others on illegal drugs. Drugs have killed Elvis Pressley, Janis Joplin, Jimmie Hendricks, Camininti the baseball star, Michael Jackson, and the list goes on and on and on.

I understandthat if the drugs hadn't taken Janis the STD would have. I guess Janis just loved that "other crank" too much.

What is really sad is that nothing is ever learned by this society from these narcissistic weirdos that kill themselves with excessive behavior and chemicals. Instead, young people will start groping for the next plastic whacko to show and tell them how to destroy their lives - -

And, of course the mind control channels MTV and VH1 will quickly start providing a whole list of profane and depraved candidates - -

3 trilogies?

Didn't Dom D die a while ago?

Todays paper said the MJ was 113 lbs at his death. He was 5'9.

Sorry to tell you, But they are people like the rest of us. We all live and we all die. Just because they are famous, the press plays it it. People die every day, Because they didn't have the money. Know body hears about it..That's life...........

The epitomy of oxymoron is.,... pop culture....a literal, if not literary, impossibility.

In today's day and age, if it is "popular", it CANNOT possibly have any culturally redeeming value as "culture"

"Culture" as applied by anthropologists is a total accumulation of what makes a society tick - -

"Cultured" as in "cultured pearl" suggests something that has been artificially and intentionally manipulated to get a desired or expected result. A "cultured person" would be anyone intentionally influenced and shaped to reach a certain end or personality.

We use the term "cultured person" to rightly describe someone who has been educated, refined, and given manners through a constant outside effort by educators, mentors, and parents - but a child brought up in a gang environment by gang parents to be a gang member is being "cultured" too... Because every society has multiple "sub-cultures" going on within it - -

Add Steve McNair to the list of dirt pushers. Although authorities are saying it was murder. He should have killed himself years ago for making us put up with that pathetic excuse of a waste of our time he called playing football. Roll Eyes

Robert MacNamara of Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam Era fame - died today - -

He moved the USA away from Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) which would mean the end of the world through total nuclear response to an attack, to the present day idea of Flexible Response, which gives the President and Military more options (embargo, limited conventional counter attack, limited regional tactical nuclear response, etc.) if America is attacked. This move was made because of the near disaster of the Cuban Missile Crisis. President Kennedy found himself strapped with only one choice if missiles came up from Cuba: Blow up the Whole Earth! He pulled the Blockade out of nowhere, since no Pentagon War Plan had suggested such a thing since the Civil War! After the dust settled, MacNamara and Kennedy worked together to give America more options, including the Green Berets for counter insurgiencey and many other things.

Many people will hate him and be glad he is gone, because of some of his miscalculations concerning Vietnam, but his push for Flexible Response is probably one of the reasons we never had a all-out nuclear war with the Soviet Union . . .

For that, I am greatful to him - -

With all due respect to the dead he annoyed the hell out of me too. however don't count on not seeing his commercials any more. As a matter of fact I saw one last night I hadn't seen before.

I need to work on my remote control quick draw time.

How come I pressed "One for English" and still can't understand a word the dude is saying?

They didn't even have to embalm him.

His grave qualifies as a hazardous waste site. Wink

Unfortunately, quality news reporting died about the time Walter Cronkite retired.
