A trivial note. Ed McMahon and Billie Mays both started out the same. They both started as pitchmen. If I'm not mistaken both started on the boardwalk at Atlantic City

THis is just my personal opinion but...

WHO CARES!!! Just because they were celebrities they get the national media coverage for days on end. They weren't vets. They weren't heroes. Why don't the people that risk their lives everyday for others (i.e. - vets, police, fire, and yes even school teachers). Start showing these people on the national news every time one passes and you just might see the nation realize where REAL role models come from. As I told my wife when she was talking about the latter three, "I don't care". I care about the vet that didn't get any turnout at their funeral. I care about the police officer that just gets the stupid comment, "That was their job. They knew the risks".

These are the REAL heroes of America. Not a couple of pitchmen or a pop star. TO me they're no better than anyone else in the world. They're dead. Leave them that way.

But of course this is just my personal opinion...and as my dad used to tell me, "You don't know the difference between your azz and a hole in the ground".

George, I agree with you.

It's really sad when a military person dies, they recognition they get is a pittance compared to what entertainers get! The military person sacrifices their life so all of us can have a quality life...including entertainers!

Keep smiling, everyone will wonder what you've been up to!

Maybe you need to read up on Ed McMahon a little. He was a World War II Marine Corsair Fighter Pilot. He and Johnny Carson probably got along so well because Johnny had been in the Navy during WW II also . . .

Ed McMahon was the ultimate wingman. You beat me to it GWG.

Ed was veteran of WW2 and Korea.

GWG, I saw something about that on television. The late Ed McMahon was talking about how the last time he and Johnny saw each other, Johnny gave him a salute and Ed returned it.

He was asked about being a pilot a couple of times on the Tonight Show, but was pretty tight lipped about it - -

This is what he flew over Korea as an Artillery Spotter - The guy had guts folks!!

And he was a GENERAL before he hung up his uniform in the late 1960s:

During World War II, McMahon was a fighter pilot in the United States Marine Corps serving as a flight instructor and test pilot. He was a decorated pilot (six Air Medals) and was discharged in 1946, remaining in the reserves.[5] After college, McMahon returned to active duty. He met his first girlfriend, Jenifer P Smith, on his first tour. He claims that she was the one to motivate him to become a better person. He was sent to Korea in February 1952. He flew unarmed OE-1 Bird Dogs on 85 tactical air control and artillery spotting missions. He remained in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.

Folks, that is the definition of a "hero" in my book - -

David Carradine, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon

Micheal Jackson, Billy Mays, Gayle Storm

Two trilogies in two weeks. Weird.

More and more it is coming out that Jackson was living on drugs rather than food - no big surprise based on his garish appearance. His death might release a bizarre, macabre, grotesque grip on millions of young people around the world. I can have no sorrow about that at all. The end of his crotch-grabbing antics and era has been long over-due . . .

If anyone gets hit in the head and appears alright, be alert for an overwhelming drowziness within the next few hours. If they feel the urge to sleep, rush them to the emergency room.

I hate to say it, but Billy Mays really got on my nerves and I won't miss his artificially black hair and mustache, nor his incessant screaming.

Given the symptoms.. probably had hemmorhage. Sudural or epidural(has to break the temporal bone in order to lacerate the middle menigeal artery). They have the best prognosis of any head bleed(artery bleed)- Of course you have to have access to a neurosurgeon, for it to be treatable-in order to have good prognosis.

Only the postmortem with tell.

This is true. When I used to perform corneal and orbital in-situ enucleations, the donors with the subdural and epidual hematomas usually bled the heaviest. I would have to irrigate the excised tissue with normal saline before placing it into the preservation solution.

Could Mays' demise been a blood clot in his brain?

A new statement over the weekend from Michael Jackson's family says that he's been addicted to pain killers for years... looks like his was an overdose.

Will he be buried with or without the glove?

I thought his plan wasn't to be buried at all. Instead, I understood that he had a cryogenic chamber in the basement where he could be frozen until a "cure" for whatever killed him could be found. At such a time, he would be resurrected.

A cure for an OD?? Actually, I heard that because of the high concentrate of plastic he had surgically implanted into his body, plans have been made to melt him down into Legos. This will enable little children to play with him for a change.
