On 22june62 I took a battery of tests at the Army induction center in Cleveland, Ohio. I recently received copies of some of my military records from the National Personnel Records Center, including one form DA 20, Enlisted Qualification Record.
The top right corner of the form lists a couple dozen different tests with coressponding scores. I have no idea what the criptic acronyms (VE-8Q, AR-4BC, ACS-1Q for instance) nor the numerical scores (122-140, typical) mean. I would hope to be able to determine just where my scores rank(ed) me (I told some of the story of my battle to enlist. I remember the Capt/Dr saying, just before he signed my papers, "with scores like these, I can't let you get away"). I'd Just like to know how much BS that statement was.
Does anyone in here have that info? or know where I can find it? I have done Yahoo! and Google searches and come up with zip. I sent a military.com email to a member who ID'd himself as a "personnel oficer" from that time but have received no reply, so I post here in hope of help.
Al, that type of help would more than likely have to come from MPRC since the DA Form 20 faded away back in the 70's and anybody that worked with it retired long ago. I was a Test Control Officer in a Personnel Service Company (PSC) in Germany in the late 70's and even I couldn't tell you what it means. The MPRC would probably need to refer to some pretty old regulations and Dept of the Army Pamphlets to solve that for you. Incidentally, the Enlisted Qualification Record was replaced by the Personnel Qualification Record (PQR), Da Form 2 and DA Form 2-1. Hope that helps......Rarely
Yeah, Rearly, I didn't expect to hit a home run right off on this one. Just hoped that, maybe someone like the personnel officer I mentioned emailing, would read my post and say, "oh yeah. I remember all that sh*t well. It was my specialty." I've been to the MPRC site a few times for other things. Thanks for the head's up, I'll look around there some more.
Well, just spent a couple of hours exploring NPRC. Tons of stuff but I didn't see anthing that even looked promising. They do have a "contact us" link but none of the predefined catagories relates to such an obscure query as mine. Their forte is records not obsolete forms tutorials. I officially registered but have to wait for a confirming email later. Then I'll submit a detailed query. Not very hopeful. I still think my best chance is to hook up in here with that quirky old personnel specialist with a photographic memory and a penchant for forms.
