There are some valuable lessons here, one of which is that is it almost impossible to toss a cat far enough into the air to shoulder a shotgun before it hits the ground.
But I digress... Cool

Dogs make great target practice

OK, why do people have to be so cruel to animals. What the ph u k did they do to you. We have 2 horses, 4 dogs and down to 3 cats because of coyotes. I get my cats in the house every day before sundown. I am tired of losing my loved pets to wild animals. My hub is a retired Marine, and he feels the same way I do. He would not ever harm an animal. My own brother doesn't like cats, which is fine with me. Just don't kill them cause you don't like them. Gees people..... Frown

I'm going to be brutally honost here. I feel more sympathy, empathy, and love for animals in general, and cats in particular than I do for 99.9% of the people I know. Atleast the animals have a good reason for the silly/stupid things they sometimes do, people have no excuse. But hey, that is just me, I'd rather have one more cat than two more people in my hometown.

I don't like dogs. Have been bitten 3 times in my life by them. No I did not provoke them.

At least, not in any way you were aware of!

They have different "triggers" than we do; try smiling (clenched, bared teeth) at a strange dog sometime, but be ready to close the door, fast!

I totally agree with you!! I too have more faith and trust in not only domestic animals, but in all of wildlife!! I'd rather look out my window and see any form of wildlife than hearing and seeing cars, etc.

KJ1110 I NEVER touch a dog unless the owner says OK and then I get to the dog's level, its less intimatination to the dog. Finnally, I let the dog decide if it wants to be petted, I let the dog sniff my open hand.

Excellent! The only way I'd alter that is to first offer it the back of a folded hand to sniff, then the open hand!

Two reasons for that; it's slightly less threatening and it also offers the animal a smaller, more difficult surface area to grab.

Can you tell I worked with Animal Control for a time?

Dogs are far too easy, besides me and dogs get along, coyotes on the other hand are almost as good a challenge as crows. Gun

So, I am a cat person, I admit it. I also freely admit to having a warped sense of humor and being somewhat less than stable.

Cat person, warped sence of humor, and less than stable...isn't that redundant? Razz

I hear ya. I have three cats. Actually there are three cats that tolerate me and allow me to feed them. And now and then one will hop on my lap and purr.
