On the whole, this site has some rather interesting posting/discussion material that has been noteworthy...
Then again, there is posting/discussion material that generally fits into the genre of "Saturday Night Live".

These two above are due to the undying efforts of our members over the course of the time this site has started.

I've been here a tad over 8 years, and have seen my fair share of both.

So, in a mattter befitting this Forum (General Discussion)...how about putting your hard-earned nickel's worth in...

I'll initiate it with MGySgt Gary Stanley (Goldenwings), and "Thanatos"...

Both were known for their topics and speaking their piece...
Albeit, many here did not agree with their style and content, I hold them to high regard and respect.

MOD HAT OFF

Good post and good choices, Hoffy. For myself, there are a lot of posters that I hold in the highest regard and respect (too many to mention, actually), some of whom are sadly no longer members. If I had to name one, though, I'd have to put SgtLeo at the top of the list. His posts on the WWII board are always informative, insightful, and enjoyable.

This thread ain't gettin much play, huh?

Under interesting and noteworthy I'd put those two crusty Jarheads. The place aint the same without 'em.As a young pup, I hold all the old warhorses in the highest regard.
In the SNL category, I have to go with Nick, Morris,Joe Keller, Mikey,BV and of course my personal muse, Pink Blossoms.

For what it's worth I find 67Nov to be the most enjoyable poster. He is even handed, Well thought out, does not go postal in responses, is said to be rather handsome, but through all these qualities remains humble!

Good call Hoffy. They and several others need to be brought back by the Admin of this site. It is called Military.com not jane fonda/tom hayden/donald sutherland.com !

Good posts/posters would include:

Goldenwings
Line Doggie
Raunchy
Glass Onion
Mario 72
Azurerepublic
Navywifeinparadise (helpful for spouses)

and some of our U.K. cousins:

Irish Guard- (Moderator and a decent fellow who doesn't forget our/his veterans and war dead.)

Trench4450-Coldstreamer grunt.
Fletch-Airdale munitions guy.
Bladensburg- (knowledgeable "chap", but often forgets about Yorktown/Cornwallis... Wink)

There are/were others that I've read that are also "OK". Maybe later I'll add someone else.

Hal9000 only ever posts now and then

There were two others and I cannot remember their names back here in 2001. I was posting under a different name back then.

Anyway they had both served in the ranger BNs one had been enlisted and the other was an officer. Good guys they were.

I'd put a vote in for Oldmole, a fountain of information, but alas I have heard he went to a site who's name is not to be mentioned.

Most of the above named folks are busily posting at "another" site. PM me via my profile and I'll email you where.

Two former members who had a habit of calling fellow veterans "terrorist sympathizers", "traitors" or worse if they didn't fall into lockstep with their narrow right wing point of view and bow before them like Gods?

Geezzzzzzzzzz

Thats not what is needed to further discussion here.
GW has even been called to carpet for that same BS where he is posting now............

Interesting posting behavior between those two.....don't you think? One would repeatedly publicly vouch for the other BUT the other would never return the favor.

Have you ever seen that between combat service Marines?

I just found that curious behavior. Maybe it's normal for Marines though.

PD...
The three of us go back long before you were even considered a thought...
We knew each other's 'quirks', as some would say...and were able to discuss things that many of you just won't be able to grasp nor understand.
My respect for them far outreaches your comprehension...
We'll leave it at that. Wink

Erich...
Like I just posted to PD...
Unless you were able to know 'their inner selves'...
MGYSgt Stanley (Goldenwings) Honorably served as a Marine for 30 years, and, a few years later, on his own initiative, returned to Iraq to do a 'hitch' as a civilian MWR specialist...

GySgt "T", served honorably as well...his life, as well as GW's have been filled with interesting moments that we have been able to share and compare.

Don't let their internet persona fool you, tho... Wink

We locked horns during my two stints as a Moderator At Large and survived with no scarring...and, didn't let personal differences cloud our personas...and respect for each other.

I have considered them good friends for a long time...

Oh, come on. Is it really neccesary to bash them when they are not here. Most of the people who agree with them think that that behavior is a good thing.

Lets try to keep this thread posotive. If you disagree, just say that and nominate someone you feel is more deserving.

PS. If you nominate RS1 I am going to ignore my own advice.

btw--- 2 more guys come to mind that usually post good stuff: Kegler300 and PeteCDR

I have been hammered in the past for my view ion who I like for posters so I will only post one that I feel is a veteran that I like for his posts.

Goldenwings

He is a BTDT and he has done it all.

He is retiring for good now so I feel we should give his some leeway on his way of posting.

I know orthers feel that he is iover the top. He is and that is who he is.

Show me another poster with over 30 years in and an E-9 still going over the pond for us?

As long as they follow the rules I imagine they all could come back. key phrase being..follow the rules. Mcuh more informative were the battles between oldmole and WS those two had epic debates without resorting to calling folks terrorists.

If you need to brag about it, you're probably lying.
