Yes after reading the email sent by military.com about all the federal jobs for vets. It is hard for me to jump for joy. I am currently employed with the Federal Government, which is one of theworst entites with the government. My point I retired as an MP with A H3 ASI, investigations and a TOP Secret clearance. When I start to apply for an investgation job i.e CID, OSI "you must not be older than 37 years old". There are alot of qualified applicants like myself who are not able to obtain these positions due to our age.

I want to continue to work for the FED in position that I like. What advise can you give me to further pursue better positions within the U.S. Govt.

Its easy to get promoted in the federal Gov. Follow these 3 simple steps.

You mention that you are already a government empolyee right? And from what I can gather you came in at a rather low GS level right?

Well, one way is to look for internship schools the services offer, I don't think you mention what part of the government you work for. Army? Navy? But being in AZ more then likey either the Army or the Airforce.
Either way look for those positions.
then look for example GS5-7 openings and once you reach there 7-9 openings and so on.

Stay alert to the job openings posted. Are you willing to relocate (big plus)
I started as a GS-5 for the Navy in 85 and was GS-12 with the Army by 93.
Of course I had to re-locate, but it can be done.

Good Luck
