I'm thinking about getting this service for the nights I'm working. I don't want any high speed features, dial up will do just fine. I've heard a lot of negative things about them in the past and wanted to know if they've made any improvements?

Thanks.

I've had AOL for years, not to many complaints.

Bought, my son was the victem of identity theft. The thief sold his id to a man in N. C. . He used the ID and a stolen check from my son to open an account with AOL.

aol, WHEN ASKED TO REVEAL THETHIEF'S INFORMATION REFUSED! Saying their customer's ID was all important , this despite we provided documents proving the "customer" was a fraud, and the police were told "get a warrant". As I was uin NY, and the thief in SC and my son in VA, it was not worth it for the PD.

ANY BUSINESS that enables THEIVES will NOT get a penny from me. And they do.

Why not "net zero" if speed and bells and whistles are not an issue?

Hubby already outlawed me from putting aol software on the laptop(i called him after i posted this to ask if we had any old aol discs around) He said they were evil, and like you mentioned netzero, and pcpeople(?)

It'll take 5-10 bizz days to get their disc. Plus I think they have high speed connection.

People PC is the best to go. There the best service for dail up and if you are able to give them a call, you could even get a cheaper price. (They offer $4.95 for the first 3 months if im correct, but you can call them and they may push it up to 6 months or more for that price) Plus you get a lot of good stuff and no extra cost. Im not sure on netzero so i can't really coment on them but i have not heard any thing bad yet.

I've had AOL forever and it's still dial-up. Yeah, it can be slow at peak times and they occassionally pi$$ me off, but not bad enough to switch.

Your husband is right . I had AOL dial up when I lived in NY. It was horrible lost connection all the time, they monitor your sites for marketing comps (not that I have anything to hide but it makes it that much slower)
I cant think of one reason to have them unless you like chats than they have that.
I now live in Miami have Bell South High speed.
Had Bell South dial up for a month and overall much better than AOL dial up .

They have good features like live help however MOST of the problems they help you with are caused by AOL.
I had them for few yrs they are slow ALL dial ups are. I switched to Bell South as moved and their dial up is faster than AOL plus never lose connection.
If you like fish tank sites (I am into keeping fish salt and fresh) and fishing where you look at pics and youtube than Bell south is tad better.
I switched to Bell South with DSL and I was living in a cave before compared to the speed now.
AOL is the best for emails its just a more friendly easier to use copy/paste etc email format when you switch internets you can keep email service but its a basic type

They did make a big improvement they are probably the most user friendly now as far as stopping the service. They were once the worse with scams.
Now its as easy as can be you do it over the internet without talking to anyone and its great. They had all types of scams in the past but not anymore not one.
Many other internet servers are not as honest as AOL is when it comes to that - I dont like AOL due to connections at busy times but it has changed 100% as far as scams go. If you dont want the service they say okay no problem
If your going to use it only at night it will suffice

Saudi prince Alaweed just bought AOL from what Ive read, so theres more muslim support and American dollars going to arabs. I wouldnt give them a dime if I had a choice.

I had free AOl for a while after I bought my computer, personally I don't care for it. I switched to another ISP after my free subsription ended. If someone likes AOL, thats their business. Smile
