A few years ago, my dad had a serious stroke. He was bleeding on the left side of his brain and tests showed a 90% blockage on the right side of his body. He had the surgery on his brain and I guess whatever they do to clear up the blockage.

He had been totally fine after that....until yesterday. His arm and hand were numb so he went to the ER and they ran more tests. They said he had a "Mini Stroke" whatever that means. They kept him overnight for tests and he should be released today.

Tests showed his heart is beating slower than normal but they said it appears totally healthy.

The guy, my dad, is more concerned about making it to a car show in VA with his '74 MGB today. He just won't slow down and maybe that's a good thing.

He turns 70 this September.

Yeh, I've had the dye thing too - makes you feel hot all over when they inject the stuff - -

As for the "mini-stroke" my dad would have those, too. He never complained of numbness, but he kept having bouts of memory loss because of them. He would drive somewhere, have a mini-stroke, then not know where he was, how he got there, or where he was going - not a good deal . . . His was caused because he wouldn't stay consistently on his high blood pressure meds, and he would have capillary leaks in his skull - -

Just an update on my dad, Don Sr. They did not release him yesterday. Instead, he is being transferred to Roanoke Hospital today as they found considerable blockage once again. Frown

Thank you. I figured having a photo of him would be nice to show you. I just happens to be of him by my bedside five years back.

He's keeping us informed and I hope he doesn't get any worse. If so, I need to get my butt down to VA (from NH) to be there for him as well. He keeps telling us he feels fine.

Folks....thanks for the concern for my dad. He is back home again. The blockage was caused by scar tissue. I am guessing that was from when they unblocked him before??? Not sure.

Thanks again. Beer

He'll be 70 this Sept.

Unfortunately, I just got an email this morning. His older sister just had a severe heart attack and can not have surgery for some reason.

Sorry. I didn't have time to post this sooner. My Uncle was supposed to recover. That is where I have been. Helping him along with my mother. His wife is in a Nursing Home due to Alzheimer's. So he was all alone. It was "supposed" to be a bad kidney infection that could lead to kidney failure. And so it did. A brave man. A US MARINE. Now gone. He has fought his last battle!

Online Condolences may be expressed on line at "www.maticsfuneralhome.com"A "Semper Fi" would do. Thank you. Yes...I am pretty torn up. A brave Marine that fought in the European and Pacific Theatres in WW II. He used to talk to me about ''some'' of this when I was just a kid. Yes, he was there on D-Day and on Iwo Jima too. His battles are over. So I wish to REPEAT my prayers for Don's Dad and his Dad's sister. GOD BLESS!

Thanks. Just an update...Dad is doing much better and is resting some before driving up from VA to NH with his wife to visit us and friends. I'm telling ya, the guy won't sit still.

As for his sister/my aunt...she's home too and seems to be OK right now. She sent me an email saying she heard they don't allow gambling in Heaven so she ain't going. Wink

Razz Don..see prayer works. But you said something else that touched me..YOUR DAD JUST WON'T GIVE UP! Hallelujah for him. And for the sister too. Betcha you are just like your Dad, Don. Spunky with a zest for life. And that's good. Although at times we all have "our crosses to bear". And BTW and even OT but one of my Favorite songs is "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald". Have a great visit. Smile
