That's the kind of town it is - -

Moving back there could be better than meds for me!! Wink

It's what makes you and Mystical happy. We're outa here in a couple years, back to WA. Whats that thingie in the middle of the picture?

The big white "G"? Well, I could say for "God's Country" but it's for Pleasant Grove. I lined up the Hueys to sling load the steel, white aluminum and cement up there for the High School kids and Kiwanas Club folks to make it permanent when I was in the S-3 of the National Guard Engineers thereabouts. The "G" used to be just loose rock that the kids had to go up, rebuild and white was each year. It covers about the same area as a football field!

Pretty neat GW, who's the bill payer for upkeep? Roll Eyes

Well, back in the "Old Days", the High School Seniors would buy and lug sacks of white wash powder up there on their backs the Saturday before "Homecoming", mix it all up in 50 gallon drums with water fromn a little spring up there and Whitewash it with brooms after rebuilding it! (I did that in 1968). The School gave up on it from about 1973-80 and it almost disappeared. When I came back after college and saw it, I got pizzed!!! So I got hold of a family (whose boys I'd played football with) who owned a construction comapny, and they donated all the stuff. The aluminum is like aluminum siding - only needs paint about every 10 years. They even lined it with lights to light up on Homcoming Night - really cool... They got deep pockets and a love for the community!! Wink

By the way that "G" is right at 6000 Feet. Timp is 11,000 - -

Another View from 10 miles away, Pleasant Grove

Ya know, it just could be "God's Country"! Wink

Cost of gas is $2.48 and diesel $2.70. Homes run 140K to 250K. Things aren't any more expensive or less here than most other places. We do have in-state oil and refineries, but they play games some times. Right now there are a lot of homes being foreclosed (3rd highest area in nation) because of some scams that drove prices through the roof, then caused them to tumble. Utah's population runs right down through the middle of the state north to south. The east side is all mountains like Timp. The west side and south end are all desert like every John Wayne movie you ever saw, cuz that's where they were filmed.

So the populated areas are a little crowded now, and in the winter we get cold inversions that cause some nasty air at times... But there ain't NO Twisters or torrential downpours, or hurricanes!! I went through one twister in Kentucky and that was enough!! Eek

Nothing like a perpetual gut ache to make the evenings bad. Can ignore it during the day, or while rooting for a team (soon will be watching JAZZ get beat again Roll Eyes) but it's getting more so . .. .

Remember, back in the day? Cheracol was the cough syrup of choice, it had codeine in it!

I think they quit using codeine in Cheracol in the 1960s

I'm trying to convince Lora...just because I'm thirsty and drink a lot of water, I don't have diabetes. She wants me to call the Dr.

I have an appt.with my Dr. next month, he wants me to have a physical, I figure I'll tell him then.

He alway's has me get a CBC blood test, every three months, if I have diabetes, it will show up on the CBC.

I just don't like going to the Dr. for everything!

I've got my blood test results from August right here:

Triglycerides 416 mg/dl I guess they are suppose to be below 150.

HDL Cholesterol 26 mg/dl....suppose to be greater than or equal to 40.

The doc said I had to make drastic changes and have another blood test at the end of this month. If I don't show a major improvement, she wants to put me on diabetes meds.

So far, I've cut way down on the fried foods, quit smoking (using the patch), diet soda and I've been going on walks.

I really need to get to the gym as I've only been once since August. The leg/feet injuries don't prevent me from going, I just get lazy and don't want to hurt in the gym.

Don

Wink My knees hurt (left one mostly) and my back hurts all the time. Could be where I popped a rib head a couple of months ago, I dunno. How long does it take for that stuff to get better?

Cool When you hit 50, EVERYTHING becomes chronic, so you quit complaining just to save time. Big Grin
