Here is somthing that should be addresed,
Moral Wavers for Cannabis.
Cannabis has been used by every 'social class' (feel free to define that term how you wish). Not just the musicians, pizza delevery drivers, and hippies do it. In fact the majority of Cannabis users are normal people who have realized cannabis threatens one's health much less than alcohol or tobacco. Regarding addiction, it wont make you shake uncontrolably or cause you to consider chewing a THC-gum to wean yourself off. The military knows this of course and has a history (still does) of drugs used.

The best reason i can think of for why a simple pot-charge would make the military think twice before taking you in is because of the public relations cannabis has developed due to it being illegal. It works like this (really, it does),,, Did you recognise a cannabis user today? If you did it was probably due to their apperance. Some cannabis users stick out and the ones that do represent a much larger community of teachers, lawyers, volenteers, etc who use too but go unnoticed because they are actually normal everyday people. Furthermore cannabis users that look "normal" have a [misguided] incentive to not be seen because they will be grouped with the pot-heads that are seen acting like idoits witch perpetuates this cycle of discrimination.

Why should anyone care?
Because cannabis users risk (its a really small risk if your safe) getting fined; god forbid you just bought two half ounce bags for cheap for you and a friend and get busted. In a situation like this, if the 'buster' is more exclusivly aware of cannabis-using-idiots then he will (of course) consider you like "them". And this is why no one but those who realize the structure of this perpetuating cycle are to blame.

You cant deny that cannabis users are mostly normal people; cannabis sales in america bring in 42 billion and growing (Forbes) and with a population of just 301 million (july2007nationmaster.com) anyone can do the math.

Ok, so the government knows normal people smoke, why do they keep cannabis illegal and cast shame on past users and restrict their jobs available in the military?
If a person realizes a law is bogus and defys it then they made a statement and took a stance; that person just waged a nano-war on a system. The military functions on disipline (for good reason) and weeds out those apt to defy, despite the true moral stance of cannabis.

Your brain uses drugs itself, it makes DMT(psycedelic, Anandaamide (a Cannabinol), endorphins, adrenaline and i control what drugts my brain has in it by many ways, diet, thoughts, physical activity, and exogenious chemicals such as typtophan found in turkey, sleeping pills, and alcohol. You can even get high off magnetic waves that osilate(?) and have a bonafide spirtiual experence. Best of all all these different ways to change how you feel work fundementaly the same.

You desire a feeling, you seek the feeling.

O and navy? you already have served with a stoner that you didn't even know.

But, i will agree, while working noone should be intoxicated. but if one got high on sunday and works on monday that person is not impaired any more than one who had a few drinks. Cannabis users are not always high, you just think that because they are using a drug that is easy on the body enough that when high a person is not all that impaired, witch is reason to make it legal. good point btw

A group of young GIs in Germany decided to take a M-113 APC on a joy ride. Rounding a corner at Hohensfeld a little too fast (30-40MPH), the tracked vehicle jumped a canal, hitting the opposite bank so hard, it tore away the front sprocket and first road wheel, before dumping the 11 ton vehicle on its side in the water. Nobody was killed, but five or six people were badly injured. They were ALL high on MJ.

Because the Army tried to ignore MJ and hash use back in the '70s, it got out of control, and this was a very common result. The military should NEVER again tolerate drugs - -

I'll entertain you.

Reason why dope shouldn't be legal is look at what we live in now. Alcohol, cigarettes, pharmaceutical drugs. All of which are legal, all of which are abused. None if used in moderation will hurt you.

When was the last time you saw a stoner use dope in moderation. I don’t mean once in a while, I mean all the time. You can’t. People are addictive. We can’t keep our fingers out of the cookie dough. We have Social programs to “fix” all the problems because people are so stupid they can’t figure out when they’ve had to much. Now let’s put another bullet in the gun. Get it?

It’s one more poison that we have to put up with, tax, regulate, have quality control. Listen to liberals brag about how f’d up they got last night around the water cooler… Worse, around the heavy equipment, trucks, operating room. It’s bad enough we have to hear how drunk everybody got. You get the jest.

The government can’t control anything that is in this country now. Hell, we can’t even find 600,000 illegal immigrants. You think we can handle weed?

Plus, why would anybody want to have dope legalized? Especially if you are a user. Do you realize how much a pack of blunts would cost you at the store? Not to mention, let me see you make it out of the store before a thug takes your “stash”. And nobody give that crap about “if it was legal, everybody would have it so they wouldn’t steal it”. That’s a lame argument. Think about it.

Be honest with you, I don’t feel like supporting another American habit. Look at other countries that have legalized drugs like this. It’s disgusting how the populous puts up with these losers laying around all over the street.

I could really give a crap if they pulled alcohol and tobacco off the shelves. And I smoke cigars and drink.

I’ll grow and make my own…thank you very much.

Thanks to random drug tests they were quickly rooted out.
Pot smoking may not have short term consquences, however long term usage has proven to be psycologically dependant, builds up a restance, so more is needed and leaves you with such defecits as short term memory loss, loss of concentration AND a severe reduction in sexual function. Further more you are at a higher risk for lung disease smoking unfiltered joints.
Not worth it. Besides what is the big attraction into giving over control to a drug?
