Two advantages for the Typhoon:

a. It wouldn't have had to slow down much on its return trip, and may have had the extra advantage of gravity working for it (on its descent from altitude) on the second leg.

b. It can be refueled in-flight.

With the fuel economy the Veyron gets at speed, it's too bad you can't give it more gas while it's rolling - the Bugatti would certainly need it. Running it wide open, the Veyron gets less than 3mpg - you'd be on fumes in about 13 minutes. For city cruising, you'll get a whopping 8mpg.
