No one here knows you. Why should anyone answer your questions?

You ought to look around at the local armory. You probably have Veterans right there in your neighborhood who can give you the low-down - -

ok what is everyones problem. I came to this sight because I figured people would be nice enough to help me but I guess I was wrong. People on here are kinda rude and I asked very politely. whatever. oh by the way I am not a guy, mainedawg. really it is like 4 questions that I was hoping to get answered.

I don't think most people here are rude. But let's look at a few things.

Your profile tells us nothing about you.

You say you want to ask some questions of someone just back from Iraq. Ever thought maybe you might be asking something sensitive here? I've been around for a bit and I try to be careful about what I ask because there just might be some things they don't want to talk about.

Why don't you just post the questions so they can see what you want to know? Looks like you are hiding something.

Hang around long enough and you will find a great bunch of people who will be happy to help you out. I'm not trying to be a jerk with you, just trying to get you to understand.

But I tell you: it sure doesn't help your cause any when you come back after 2 days with an attitude.

Especially to the Dawg.... Wink

Just my 2 cents worth...

You guys crack me up!

Sheesh, thank goodness you all were watching the front lines instead of me.

I would have open the door and let the enemy right in thinking I was helping the little sheep only to find a wolf hiding.

I read the post and thought.....ooooooooo......great a young student thinking of the military.

It never occured to me that this could be a spy wanting info for those that would do us harm.

I do agree with Jailer that if you are here long enough you will find the best of the best.

Goodness knows I have had my little posting behind kicked from one side of the forum to the other......lol

And I know they are thinking....omg here she comes again......lol

But if you are real and honest then it will shine and they will cut you some slack.

And also, I hope I never offended anyone by questions that I ask.

That is how I try and learn and I think who better to get the real info from than the men and women who really serve?

As much as I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee Fox, CNN, BBC etc I would rather know from the real deal.

ok the thing is i do not really have time to stick around and get to know everyone. my paper is due in a week and i really need my interview. i do realize it is a sensitive issue and some may not want to talk about it and i am ok with that but i would rather get the truth than to write about a bunch of lies or half-truth.
if there is something you want to know about me then i will answer it. Like i go to UNLV and i am a sophomore and i am not the enemy (as usa girl said) thats just ridiculous. i do get you have to give respect to get respect but i feel i have not been respected. i know i am new and i did not have an attitude with the Dawg i was just stating a fact.
as for the questions i am not hiding them i just dont want them posted and people answering them with bits and pieces.
really i know its hard buts its better coming from the horses mouth right and really i wiil answer any of your questions and i will do it very honestly.

You've been given a couple of really good suggestions. Go to a recruiter. Or, you might check with your local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or American Legion.

As for why people don't answer you directly, you may not understand that the most effective method of spying is not all the high tech gizmoz and gagets you see on TV or in the movies. It's plain old HIMINT (Human Intelligence). The best defense against it is common sense.

Let me give you an example. Let's say you go to the local stereo outlet and buy a new stereo. Then, you just can't resist bragging to your friends in the student union. In the course of your conversation, you lament that you have a night course that evening, so you won't even get to enjoy your new "toy". For someone overhearing the conversation, you've told them what nifty new stereo they can find at your residence and when you're not going to be home. The phone book will probably provide them with your address.

Many of the people on these forums have been in the military, and understand the damage that can be done by a few careless words. Don't get angry at them because they are being cautious.

Crazzyrebel:
Some good suggestions have been given to you-contact your local recruiter, VFW, Legion or even a local VA facility. You will get a verifiable source and personal contact, which will allow you to get a better interview experience. You never know if an interview over the Internet is real or a poser/instigator, even through this site.
As to the initial harsh tone encountered here, there are those who use your type of opening statement as a way to start something.
I would also suggest that you stick around and get to know people and viewpoints, it may be educational. Your interview may have a time limit, but learning doesn't. It may open up your eyes a little. Good luck.

crazyrebel, Definitely heed the advice given here. Your poll questions in the other thread read like someone that has an agenda and hasn't done ANY homework about the war or Military people in general. There are many experienced Vets here. I'm just a civilian. You never know what you may learn from actually interviewing someone at the VFW or a VA hospital. You may actually gain an understanding of service personell that you never had before. Seeing as though your a student of UNLV doesn't actually help you any though. Many here are suspicious of colleges that tend to slant liberally. I'm not saying that is your personal leanings, but its a fact. Also, the way your presenting your need of an interview so quickly seems that you just want a perspective handed to you instead of researching your actual subject. Did you just google "military" and viola you landed here at Military. com? I wish you luck with your assignment and I wish I could help you more, but I'm not a Veteran.

ok i have read all the advice and i know what i should do but i probably won't. I know i need this interview quick but i have completed all my researched and this is an additional source that my professor has requested us to get. i have written my paper but have yet to analyze findings that come from a person.
UNLV is not pushing views on me. i have my own mind and do not believe what is forced on me. everyone has there opinions and that is totally ok with me.

i guess i will change my view and go find civilians that do not know everything about what is going on and use that. if i am really bugging people that much then forget i asked.

i see the cautiousness of everyone and that is too be expected.

...maybe you are not a spy and maybe you are.

And as far as UNLV is for reference, can you say sleeper cell?

point is, I trust these people first and they are warriors at heart and have that gut instinct that maybe I do not or maybe you do not.

But they are why I am safe and you are safe as an American and they are going to keep it that way.

you should listen and learn and maybe post your paper here?

The only reason why I know that...is because I asked before I posted. I have one there now asking people what voting problems or concerns they had in this past election. So if anybody had an issue please stop by and leave e a comment. I am an army wife and mom to a son currently deployed. I belong to a group called Band of Mothers (warriors come from warriors). Sorry I shouldn't mention it here but no one seems to look way down there.....
