Dress up in a costume, go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, then went to a community party where there were games (pin the tail, apple-bobbing, etc.) and more treats. Razz

Of course, this was back in the 60's........

Chased girls drank beer, and smoked... cigs. Tried to find a dance. Raced cars.

Dad raised us and we were not allowed to trick or treat. He thought of it as begging

Grade school was the end of trick-or-treating, for us. Dad told us we were too old, at that point, and when in High School, we did the dance-thing, too........ Of course, THAT was when I stsrted to do "bad things" too! Dvlish

Went trick or treating and got my own candy. Then when I got bigger I knocked the little kids over and took theirs. No I'm just kidding. I don't remember when we quit trick or treating though.

I think I quit trick or treating when I was about 12. We were Army brats and the AYA (Army Youth Association) or Rec Services always put on a big party on the base, too and you would get a big sack of candy and they had a haunted house, etc. It was a lot of fun. We trick or treated in military housing and we had 45 minutes (per Dad). We would hit those stairwells (8 apts each) on the fly to get as much as we could. Big Grin

Most of the time, just the normal stuff of dressing up in costumes, and going door to door for candy - often ending up at elementary schools where they had booths, spook alleys and old Frankenstein/Dracula meet Abbot and Costello movies to watch in the auditoriums - -

Once, a group of us boys (9-10years old) decided to walk through the cemetery at about 9 PM after going through the neighborhoods. A group of older boys, screaming and yelling, started chasing us - probably hoping to get our candy bags. Anyway, we took off running through the dark scared as heck.

Suddenly, the ground just opened up under me and I fell headlong!! All the other boys kept going , because nobody saw me disappeared. To my horror, I had dropped of into a new dug grave!! I was terrified that hands would come out and grab me! No one came to help me out despite my yells. Since the hole was only about three feet wide, I managed to wedge myself against the sides and get out, but it was the scariest Halloween I even had!!

GWG, as scared as you probably were, I bet that freshly dug grave ended up being more like a slit-trench latrine (lol)!

I was a little bit ticked at my buddies that ran off - and All the candy I had stayed in the hole. I was dressed as a little red devil (appropriate), so it would have been a real hoot if some more kids had come by as I was crawling out of the hole!! BBBOOOOOOO!!!. But I was pretty scared, so I just ran on home - about 4 blocks away.
