These are just some changes I make to the military if I were in power
1.Raise the pay grade for all services 2. Stronger network to communicate with service men and woman around the globe 3. Full family coverage (health, dental, auto, wills, housing, daycare, I mean the works….) 4. Tougher boot camps for all services 5. No tax for any service man or woman 6. Veterans maintain all pay grade pay and coverage and as mrssgtsupergrunt said make it better for veterans to get everything they need without the B.S. ( All it would and should be is a simple form that says who you are, when did you serve, current rank and pay scale, and when you want it to start. That’s it, no pain no gain!) That’s the basic and first thing I would make change. There’s so much more that needs happing and it needs to start ASAP! |

1) BUILD THE FREAKIN WALL ON THE BORDERS.
2) PARDON BORDER GUARDS RAMOS AND COMPEAN. 3) DEPORT EVERY SINGLE ILLEGAL ALIEN. 4) ALLOW EVERY SINGLE IRAQI COLLABORATOR WHO HAS RISKED THEIR LIVES TO ASSIST THE U.S. MILITARY TO COME TO THIS NATION IMMEDIATELY. 5) ABOLISH THE IRS, REPLACE WITH NATIONAL SALES TAX. 6) TAKE CARE OF THE IRAN PROBLEM. |

Most civilian contractors are not doing security work. If you do away with ALL contractors, troops will be spending a lot of time maintaining latrines, hauling trash, running laundry plants, and many other jobs now done by contractors. S7 |

If I were president I would do the following (the ACLU would not like me as POTUS):
1. Stop all govt benefits to non citizens. Illegals will be deported and a wall will be put up along the border (a real one, not one that looks like a ladder). Border Patrol will be enlarged and deadly force authorized. 2. Social Security would be paid only to natural born citizens or legal immigrants who have paid taxes for at least 25 years. Those with decent retirement pensions are not eligible. 3. Anyone collecting govt benefits (welfare, disability, unemployment - not retirees on SS) would be put to work according to their physical abilities. They can pick up garbage along roads or something like that. The handicapped can work tollbooths or in understaffed govt offices. 4. Anyone collecting govt benefits such as welfare would be required to take a monthly drug test. If caught using the benefits cease immediately. 5. Single mothers on welfare will be required to be on birth control. If she is getting paid to take care of her kids then it's not unreasonable to expect her to not have more kids while she's living off taxpayer generosity. Having more kids means needing more money from Uncle Sam. 6. No plaintiff will be able to sue someone else for their own carelessness or lack of responsibility. Any lawyer bringing a frivolous lawsuit into a court room will be disbarred. 7. No more lawsuits with millions of dollars for "pain and suffering". A reasonable amount will be awarded to cover lost wages, medical bills, and legal costs. 8. Malpractice lawsuits will cease. Healthcare workers will risk losing their license or other punishment if they were careless or negligent. Suing them constantly because they made an honest mistake only makes the lawyers rich and drives up the cost of healthcare for everyone else. 9. Politicians will cease to recieve govt pensions (one term in congress gets you $16K a year for the rest of your life). Most of them were rich to begin with, and it is supposed to be a civic duty. 10. The govt will stop paying scientists thousands of dollars for stupid experiments and studies. Learning about hummingbird mating habits and the flow of ketchup does not help anybody. 11. Foreign countries will stop getting money from us in charity (unless it is to help people who are starving or in dire need of help). Especially nations that are hostile to us. The govt hands out billions or trillions in what are essentially bribes. 12. A child born in the US by immigrant parents will not automatically be a citizen. The parents must legally reside in this country prior to the birth and they must pay taxes. Too many pregnant Mexican women sneak over the border just in time to have their baby in an American hospital so they can get on the gravy train. This has to stop. 13. Govt officials will no longer travel in luxury at taxpayer expense. If they want a private plane or a limo they will pay for it out of their own pocket. Otherwise they can fly coach like the rest of us or hitch a ride with the military. 14. Govt/military contractors will be punished severely for overcharging. Hammers should cost $15 not $600. That's all I can think of for now. I'll add to it later. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mj101inf, |

Can't concur on this one. The principle (if you can't support the ones you have, don't have more) is sound, but many people's religious beliefs prohibit the use of contraceptives, and the government cannot force them to violate their religious beliefs. You wouldn't propose mandatory abortions for welfare moms, would you? Many people feel that contraception and abortion are equally wrong. If their religious beliefs prohibit birth control, I would think unmarried sex is also against the rules. Maybe it's just a stereotype, but too many women on welfare keep having more babies and become more dependent on the state. I'm sick and tired of lazy-azzes getting handouts for doing nothing, while those of us who work for a living get screwed all the time. And I never said anything about forced abortions. 6. Any lawyer bringing a frivolous lawsuit into a court room will be disbarred. Who gets to decide what is "frivolous"? Yeah, I know it's a matter of opinion. To me a frivolous lawsuit is when you sue over something the average person would find ridiculous, or the problem was due to your own actions. I believe the legal term is "Reasonable Standard". 8. Malpractice lawsuits will cease. Healthcare workers will risk losing their license or other punishment if they were careless or negligent. Suing them constantly because they made an honest mistake only makes the lawyers rich and drives up the cost of healthcare for everyone else. So, a medical professional screws up through negligence, the patient winds up in a condition that will cost them hundreds of thousands in medical bills, can't work for a living, and they can't file a suit to get money from the medical provider (or, actually, his or her insurance company)? The provider gets his or her licensed revoked, and that's supposed to serve as justice for someone who will require expensive care for the rest of his or her life? Does that really make sense to you? I need to rephrase that one. My point was that doctors are human and will make mistakes. One reason the cost of healthcare is so high is because of malpractice insurance the MDs need. That expense gets passed on to the customer. A patient who's life was ruined certainly deserves compensation for it, but too many people sue over a minor inconvenience. An honest mistake shouldn't ruin a doctor's career, but rather gross negligence. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mj101inf, |

Everytime Congress votes a pay raise, Soldiers(you know what I mean, all branches) and Military retirees get a pay raise at the same percentage. Example, Congress votes a 25% pay raise every Military member and retiree gets a 25% increase. I kinda like the no income tax for Military and retirees too. The cancelling of contracts for services the Military has MOSs for. A flat rate, 10% income tax, no deductions,no loopholes. Of course we would see an increase in welfare rolls with the loss jobs in the tax law and CPA fields. Anchor babies are infact, citizens and can stay... as wards of the state and later for adoption. Illegal alien parents will be bussed back to the the border and sent back home.

yeppperz.... it would be nice to be able to support your family on one income if you are in the military...it is hard for kids to have parent gone and the other working to support them...it is hard to work when your spouse id deployed, things always come up and you have to take the day off...I am in the California Conservation Corps. CCC and it is like pulling teeth...plus, I had to rush to the post office after I got off at 4:30 to mail of care packages...they need to get paid more than they do...more than their civilian job would pay...even with hazard pay and separation and combat...it ain't that much

For openers -
a. Assuming I had claimed some sort of political affiliation, right after being sworn in, declare myself an independent. b. Give the Legislative Branch the respect it deserves, and work with Congress to solve America's problems and make it a better place. c. Do my best to inspire Congress to work together to do the same. d. Hire a Cabinet from across the political spectrum and have it consist of intelligent, experienced people of varying political views but a single desire to work to improve the quality of life for all Americans. e. Display zero tolerance for corruption and greed from either the private or public sector. f. Inspire a foreign policy that is kind to our friends and allies but gives no quarter to our enemies. g. Inspire domestic policies that ensure all Americans have an equal chance to realize their fullest potential through their own best efforts. |

Well, let me see now. Probably find me some good Kevlar, flack jacket and body armor, because I would be the target of big business, and foreign countries like China, because I would level the playing field for working Americans. Outsourcing would become so costly it would not be profitable to big business.
China would not be happy because it's cash cow would disappear. Therefore they could not accumulate their weath to build their military to eventually use against us. Politicians, such as Governor Spitzer, would immediately be arrested for derilection of office. Same goes for some Senators and Congresscritters. Our borders and ports would be secured. Investment by anyone in our critical infastructure, such as highways, transportation, banking, stocks and electronics, by any foreign interest, would be outlawed. We would pull out of the lip service UN, and give them six months to evacuate U.S. soil. Increase the number of Visas for people that want to come to the USA and work, and really contribute to our economy legally, instead of draining our social programs to the detriment of Americans. One time free bus pass to Mexico, or wherever, for all illegals, to be taken advantage of within six months. After that, five years in the pokey, and they work, to pay off the cost of incarceration. Also, get the spigots going full blast in Iraq. Use 50% of the profits to repay us for the cost of their freedom, the rest to help rebuild their country. The distribution to be heavily monitored to make sure it goes to the people, and not just a bunch of corrupt Iraqi politicians and chieftains, Hell, that would be the first couple of weeks. Will have to work on long range planning. |
