I cut/pasted the following from the Golden Corral site at (link removed by vighper) and please pass along to the other forum/discussion groups. Thank you.

Military Appreciation Monday

The 2008 Military Appreciation Monday dinner will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 from 5 pm to 9 pm in all Golden Corral Restaurants.

The free “thank you” dinner is available to any person who has ever served in the United States Military. If you are a veteran, retired, currently serving, in the National Guard or Reserves, you are invited to participate in
Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Monday dinner.

To date, Golden Corral restaurants have provided over 1.8 million free meals and contributed over $2.53 million to the Disabled American Veterans organization

I called a local Golden Corral and asked if you had to bring your DD-214 and they said no.

First thought was to laugh after reading a few other posts about how taxes will be w/ this new group of folks taking office, and my first thought was to say ...

That's probably what we will be doing in 2012 ... but thought it best not to go there Big Grin

Back in '96 a Sunday morning. I was going to OS A school. The galley on Dam neck was always great.
Except the power went out at 8 AM. I waited 45 minutes nojoy, then we were told they might have power by Lunch, and definetly by Dinner.
I walked down to the Golden Coral and had a great breakfast.
Just want to say thanks

Likewise with the one here in Hamiltucky, OH although I did miss it this year because of having to work. Still, it's worth the long line just to chat with some of the vets from WW2, Korea, 'Nam, etc., and to thank them personally for their service.

I think GC deserves a huge salute for what they do with the free dinner and all the money they raise for DAV. Applause

What does one do if he can't locate his DD-214? Mine disappeared during the divorce, I think my ex has it but can't prove it.

You didn't need one for the free lunch at Golden Corral, that's probably why the lines are so long, everyone and his brother claiming to be active/retired/prior service.

Yes, Golden Corral is to be thanked for the free meals, and the donations to the DAV.

Write or go online to the NPRC to get your replacement DD 214.

www.archives.gov to request military records (to include medical). Smile Wink

I cut/pasted the following info from the archives site:

How to Request Military Service Records or Prove Military Service
Military personnel records can be used for proving military service, or as a valuable tool in genealogical research. Most veterans and their next-of-kin can obtain free copies of their DD Form 214 (Report of Separation) and other military and medical records several ways:

Use our eVetRecs system to create your requestMail or Fax a Standard Form
