November 11th will soon be here & I thought I'd spread the word(if you haven't heard yet). Applebees is givingt away free meals at their restaurants on Veterans Day, It's their way of saying thank you to the men & women who currently are serving & those that have served our country. They started this last year & it was a big success. A few guys from my Legion Post went & the folks at Applebees were super nice.

They said, current active duty ID or retired ID, member card to a vets organization or other item to show you served.

"eating good in the neighborhood"(& thanking our vets!)
Good job Applebees! Beer

The Golden Coral has been doing this for years.
Just wear a cap with a insignia will do.

The salads are great at Applebess. Did anyone see the Ballad of Ricky Bobby where he gets thrown out of an Applebees. Great show.

I hardly never visit these two establishments. I would feel funny just going there on a free day. The only time I would use the offer if it included paying for my wife and childrens meals.

It reminds me of the volunteer FD specials. There's some members we call "fork and spooners". We only see them when there's a free meal.

It's O.K. to go on a free day. Just leave a $20.00 tip and the waitress will love you even more.

I wish our military would allow Vets and Retirees to eat in their mess halls on Veterans day but they don't care about us anymore.

Retirees can at the same price that the active duty personnel pay at the commuted rations price.

Not at Cherry Point NC which is covered with Marines and Navy people. If I could eat in their mess hall an pay the going rate I would divorce my wife tomorrow. I love military food.

MAKE SURE you check with the restaurant BEFORE you show up.

Last year, a bunch of us were going to go to Applebees for our "free" dinner. We would have left crazy tips. I called the restaurant and they were NOT participating!!! So, it is up to the owner. And this Applebees is right by an Army Reserve HQ and an AF base. We have never been back.

This tactic is a traffic-getter to promote a regular customer base. It's to encourage year-round business. I'm sure there's certain vets who will go there just this one day a year for a freebie.

I'm not suggesting any posters here in particular are like this. Just general discussion.
