I am angry and down right disgusted by the reception my husband and I received by Officer's wives at Camp Yongsan last week. My husband is a decorated honored soldier who is Brazilian & Indian. I am Italian/German & Indian but apparently. I am suppose to be a white woman married to a black man. As if that would be any different. Any ways. We had heard so much about this consignment shop that the officers wives had. We have recently had great losses in our lives so we needed to get away. With thousands of dollars in hand to buy stuff for our new home. We headed out. First to the thrift store. Never been ask for my ID at a thrift or consignment shop but we were ask not once but three times as we entered the area of the consignment store. Everyone acting in a very hostile like why are you here manor on the outside we went into the store at the door we showed our ID's and gave 20 dollars to the raffle they had going on to raise money. a few steps further another lady approached and ask for ID's again. I replied ma'am this is ridiculous I just showed my ID twice. She was very upset and I just walked on. As we proceeded through a store that had lots of over priced junk refurbished by military officers wives and disguised as antiques. And I know antiques my Aunt owns two in the south of France and one in Japan. By the time we were coming down the stairs this lady at the door had watched us the whole time looking at us as if we were criminals. So I took out my ID and was about to show it to her because she wouldn't stop looking at us. We start through a door way and she said YOUR NOT ALLOWED IN THERE. My husband said lets just go. I feel like dung on someone's shoe. I looked her straight in the eye and said this is the rudest base I've ever been on. She never said a word just smirked and look away. I was sick when I saw the look on my husbands face. I am in a foreign country. I know countries because I'm and international missionary and have been for 25 years. But I have never been so insulted and put out that a soldier who's served several times overseas in war. Was treated as if he was trash on the street. WHO DO THESE WOMEN THINK THEY ARE. Get a life, Stop talking about your neighbor and do something constructive besides hang on the name your husband has. Because I got news for you if he died tomorrow you wouldn't be nothing but a faded memory. No AMERICAN SOLDIER NO MATTER COLOR OR RACE & THEIR FAMILY SHOULD EVER BE DISRESPECTED ON AN AMERICAN BASE. I shame you and I pity your stupid Idiotic ways women GET REAL WERE IN THE 21ST CENTURY STOP YOU SELF CENTERED STUCK UP WAYS. Our men earn the right to respect. I WILL SLAP YOUR FACE OFF AND CALL THE POLICE WHILE I DO IT. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO EVER DISRESPECT A SOLDIER THE WAY YOU DID. I'M SO SICK I COULD PUKE IN YOUR FACE. HOW SAD YOU ARE!

It sounds like you have a legitimate gripe, but you need to take it up with the people there - not strangers on the internet who can do little to nothing about the situation.

Make out an EEO Complaint to be sent to Base JAG, and make certain a copy goes straight to the desk of the Base Commander. Things will change in a hurry!
