In the past week, we have made some significant changes to Hannah’s treatment – all in the right direction! First, last week we decided to stop giving her Ganciclovir for her CMV since her CMV has been at zero for over 6 weeks. Now we just pray that her cells are able to fight this virus on her own.

Next we adjusted some of her other medications including reducing her blood pressure medicine. Based on her blood pressure yesterday, it looks like she is still doing well and we may be able to take her off the medication altogether next week.

In addition, we have decided to stop giving the weekly infusion of Rituxamab (which suppresses her B-cell antibodies, since they were fighting off her new blood cells). Again, we hope her cells have grown and are “smarter” – we really won’t know for sure until we try them out. The good news is that without this infusion, we only have to go to the hospital once a week now!

Finally, yesterday we made another big step and decided to pull her feeding tube. Her weight has been stable and she is eating better (although still not as much as we would like to see – but then again, she is 3 and eats like a 3 year old!). She has been doing great taking her oral medications, now she just has to EAT and DRINK more!

All in all, she has made tremendous progress and we are thrilled. We appreciate your continued prayers for her complete recovery and specifically for:
- Her CMV to remain at zero – forever!
- Her Kidneys to be healed completely and quickly
- For protection from long-term side effects and damage from chemo and radiation.
- That her blood level and immune system increase and mature on their own.
- For her eating and drinking to increase enough to help her grow and be healthy.

God’s blessings to you all,
Mei Ling and Tom
