What are you having for your TG and Xmas Dinners. We are going to my brother's for Thanksgiving, so we will being having Turkey and all the trimming pretty much traditional except there will be tortillas, beans, rice, mole poblano, salsa roja and salsa verde in addition to the mashed taters, stuffing,(corn bread and pecan) green bean casserole, baked sweet taters, rolls, and various pies for dessert.
Xmas is at our house the wife wants to do a Beef Wellington which requires a beef tenderloin which costs 25 bucks a pound, and it we have same crew we had last years were talking about a 100 to 125 dollar chunk of meat. I am not all that fond of beef. I know that is sacrilege for a Texan to say that, but I actually prefer chicken, pork, or fish. Anyway I a trying to talk her into ham or a nice pork roast. But as a you married guys know I am fight a losing battle. This message has been edited. Last edited by: GeorgeRGarcia, |

Turkey for both. Might even roll out the pig cooker. Pour in the scott's sauce... Mashed potatoes. Green beans. Corn on the cob. Cornbread. Collard greens. Jeez I'm starving now.

I'd rather be knitting. |
We may be deep frying our turkey this year- with sweet potato fries to boot. Not sure about the other fixings, but I plan to whip up homemade eggnog this year, so that I can sweet talk someone into making his famous eggnog pancakes later that weekend.
Also, George, you may be able to substitute a cheaper cut of beef- I'll do some research. |

My sister does TG with a Persian twist. My brother-in-law does a wicked lamb & stuffed grape leaves, don't usually go for lamb, but his rocks the house. Plus the usual thanksgiving stuff. X-mas is of an Irish/American mix.

Hubby is still in London and doing a stop over in Kentucky to see parents and will have southern everything with some type of sinful gravy on it. llol And lots and lots of sweet stuff, pie of every type.
We usually get our tree and trim it on christmas eve, have a nice bite to eat at our favorite place and go to church for late night session. Christmas day hubby will play golf and I will go out and take the kids goodies at the shelter and serve whatever they have put together. Big hispanic community so it usually is something festive and spicy. Hubby picks something different every year for Christmas day, usually fish halibut, sword fish, lamb chops with all the side goodies. mmmmmmmmmmm making me hungry just thinking about it. |

The VFW post usually has a free Thanksgiving "pig out"---Christmas looks like Shoney's or BK this year. Money being tighter this year most likely BK, I WILL leave a big tip for the kid workin the window.

For the first time, I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house for my family. They are getting up in years, and it's high time that I took over the festivities. I'm looking forward to it...

I don't want to go anywhere for Thanksgiving or CHristmas. I don't want any presents or anybody calling me. I just want to get in my pick up truck with my dog and my few camping supplies and stay out in the woods. I want to be by myself and think about Vietnam.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. There's no gifts to buy or receive, just family, friends, and food...and let us not forget FOOTBALL.

Well, Thanksgiving's obviously not a big thing over here, but I wish you all well.
For Christmas, it'll be a turkey, or possibly a goose; little sausages (possibly venison ones - I'll make them myself) wrapped in some good smoked, fatty bacon; homemade herb stuffing; giblet gravy made with a good slug of red wine; roast potatoes; roast parsnips; carrots; Brussels sprouts, Yorkshire puddings. And for those who say Yorkshire puddings only go with beef, I say "Yah boo! It's my Christmas dinner, and I'll have what I want!" |

lol, no offense, because; "We're not Spartans. We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're American soldiers! We've been kicking azz for 200 years! Thanksgiving will be traditional, with turkey and ALL the trimmings!! We are introducing our foreign exchange student to "typical American holliday celebrations". She's a Muslim girl from Indonesia. A real sweet kid, too!!
Christmas will be a standing rib roast (prime)if I can help it! NOrmally we do a ham, but Siti (our Indonesian student) can't eat that, so I'll make a little adjustment...... For the better, if you ask me!! I've done it in the past, and actually prefer it, but, the wife can be a bit stuck in her family traditions. |

Roger that! BA, I am sure that like in the USA, there aren't any laws in the UK that says you can't have whatever you want for your Christmas dinner. |

Thanksgiving dinner at the church, they put on a feast that any five star restaurant would be envious of!
Christmas is still in limbo. Our son's and their families live in Colorado. We wont be going there...as far as I know! Keep smiling, everyone will wonder what you've been up to! |

"What are you having for your TG and Xmas Dinners?"
As far as I know,I'm going nowhere. Just staying at home with my four cats. My "friends" all have plans and my sister (whose 12 yrs older) and I have never done anything together for the holidays. |
