I HAVE WAITED FOR SOME HOLLYWOOD TYPE TO CONTINUE THE SAGA OF THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN WELL DESERVE RECOGINITION FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING AND AFTER WWII, HAVING BEEN BORN IN THE CAPITAL CITY (MONTGOMERY) OF ALABAMA AND BEING A RETIRED VET OF THE US AIR FORCE , SERVE DURING VIETNAM, DESERT STORM/SHIELD, ENDURING FREEDOM/IRAQ IT SEEMS THAT HOLLYWOOD AND THE NEWS MEDIA FAILS TO MENTION INTENTIONALLY THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF MINORITIES. I AM ALSO A HIGH SCHOOL GRAD OF THE SAME SCHOOL THAT GENERAL COLIN POWELL ATTENDED IN THE BRONX NEW YORK, WE CROSS PATH AT A LOCAL MOM AND POP DINER LOCATED ON INTERVALE AVE AND KELLY STREET. POWELL WAS THE GUESS SPEAKER AT MY SENIOR GRADUATION CEREMONY. HERE IS ANOTHER GREAT BLACK AMERICAN WHO STORY NEEDS TO BE AIRED, HE ADVISED TWO AMERICAN PRESIDENT ON THE PERILS OF THE OCCUPATION OF IRAQ ONE LISTENED THE OTHER DID NOT.
I support the making of any movies to show the service and pride of any of the minority groups who served in any of the US services before integration. I loved the first movie about the Tuskegee Airmen, and look forward to Spielbergs take on it. I would also like to see movies about the Japanese Americans who served, and probably the least know group, the 555 PIR. The 555 PIR was an Airborne Infantry unit who were not allowed to fight Germans or Japanese. They were instead used to fight fires in Oregon, and Washington State. They were the first Smoke Jumpers. No one would fight forest fires this way today if it weren't for them.
I'm glad that another film on the Tuskegee Airman is being made. It will be tough to match the previous film for sure. The sad part about that era (WWII) is the racism which was part of all branches of the military. A man is a man and should never be pre-judged. Unfortunatley, prejudices are still with us and will always be with us. Prejudices has just gone under ground. Prejudices are not just limited to color and that is a sad affair. Think how much better America could be if one was evaluated on their skills and not what they look like or how well they are educated.
