I wonder when people will get tired of the media forcing on us the opinions of people just because they are a Hollywood star. Who could possibly care what the likes of Barbara Streisand, Sean Penn, Jessica Lange, etc have to say about political matters? Their opinion is no more important than any other American citizen. In fact their opinions are probably worth less than the average American because they don't live in the real world.
Everyone, including high-visibilty celebraties, are entitled to their polictical opinions. However, commencement address are not an appropriate forum to express their opinions. Jessica Lange should have focused on congradulating the students and encouraging them to apply their newly aquired learning.
Her opinions are her opinions, and she has every right to them. However, the place and time for expressing them could have been choosen a little better.
