Folks,
I know that like all armies, the US Army does not like to consider non-US items, but this vehicle developed jointly by Argentine and Brazil might be for consideration. Unlike the HMVEE it is much lighter and is designed to be stacked one on top of the other on a pallet for parachuting from a C-130 and they can be loaded into the CH-47 without having the driver trapped inside during transit. With the Marines it can easily be carried internally by the MV-22 (I believe the MV-22 has a hard time carrying the HMVEE internally) which the Marines are now searching and R&Ding a separate vehicle (looks like a small jeep with only one wheel in the back) for that purpose. Below is one photo. And more information can be found by going to the link below and scrolling down to 4th message and the four messages after. Lots of photos. And other information. Information on Airborne/Air Assault Vehicle Jack E. Hammond Note> Photo Below Is Of armored version proofed against 7.62mm AP. . |
