I'd like to know how IS A school is for fleet returnees, more importantly the process of selecting orders.

Any info would be great!

I'm currently an MA2 with almost 6 years in and I'm approaching my EAOS in May. I'm considering a change of career and IS has always sparked my interest. I have qualifying ASVAB scores and have nothing that would DQ me from a TS. And of course I'd like to convert and re-up for $60k instead of $21k or so I'd be getting now for 6 years.

The IS reenlistment bonus is still 60k??? Thought it changed...

Anywho, fleet returnees pick their orders differently than the rest of us booters did. You guys actually work with a detailer and what not, as opposed to "hey seaman heres a list pick"

you'll talk to the detailer. like navychick said.

but plan on getting put on hold if you don't finish your TS clearance package long before you start school.

And now the IS reenlistment is gone... Heavy sigh....

don't you have like 4 years until that time anyway? i'm sure it'll change back by then. . .

and if an IS is really in it for the money then I doubt they would re-enlist and instead get a job at one of the three letter agencys
