Hi, I am preparing to submit an IS package and am curious as to what the rotation for sea/shore is. After my obliserv at this command I will have 3years sea time. The reason I am asking is I am trying to stay stateside as much as possible. My wife is taking my deployment rougher than I imagined she would, having to go through therapy and take depression medication. I just do not wish to put her through it any more than I have to. Also what kind of billets are available and what are the chances of getting a support billet for NSW. I am currently riverine and EXW qualed so I would prefer to stay in the general community. Any other information I can get would be greatly appreciated, I only have 2 IS' in the squadron to draw information from.

As of the NAVADMIN published on 041837Z MAY 06, sea/shore rotation (in months) is:

ISC - Sea: 36; Shore: 36
IS1 - Sea: 42; Shore: 36
IS2 - Sea: 42; Shore 36

I am not certain your sea time will count toward your first duty station as an IS. Double check this with your career counselor.

I hope your wife's health is improving. At the same time, IS's deploy on board ships, in support of IA's, etc.

IS's go through "A" School and then straight to "C" School. "C" Schools include:

3910 - Imagery Analyst - deals with assessing imagery intelligence.

3923 - Strike Analyst

3924 - Operational Intelligence Analyst - All-source analysts who deal with a variety of intelligence topics.

3912 - Ground Analyst - This NEC may be right up your alley if you seek to stay in this type of community. They provide intel support to Marines, SPECWAR, etc. This is a fairly new community and may be a good option based on what you want. However, they can also have a less than consistent deployment schedule, so it's something else to consider given your comments about your wife's health.

I hope this helps -- do a military.com search and you'll find many postings about the IS rating.

Good luck!
