I recently got approved for a direct conversion to CTN and am starting C school in 3 weeks (currently in between commands on leave). My TS/SCI clearance was approved a year ago. I am getting divorced, and this just came up a few days ago. Will this affect anything in a bad way? I'm pretty lucky that the divorce is going to be as smooth as a divorce can be, 1 attorney to do the paperwork for both of us, no fighting over who gets what, no kids, shouldn't have to even make a court appearance, we will both be financially intact when its over, etc. Anybody have any thoughts?
You should not have any problems as far as your TS/SCI. HOWEVER, make sure you talk to your Security Manager ASAP and let them know you are getting divorced.
Even if the divorce was a very messy situation you would probably not have anything to worry about. The investigators and adjudicators are usually pretty adept at figuring out who has an axe to grind and who is being straightforward in interviews.
I'll second that....and considering that most people these days get divorced, including those in the Intel community, its nothing out of the ordinary. The good news, as I found out, is that once the divorce is outside of your 5-year window, that won't keep on re-interviewing your ex.
