Yes. That can depend on where you get stationed, level of experience, mission, etc. There are some positions where you may get stuck tapping a keyboard all day. As a CTN I have traveled the entire country of Iraq and looking forward to getting home in March. CTN's are used heavily here.
Thanks for the reply! Once I confirm that I am graduating in August (from college) I'll be going to the recruiter. Very excited about there being even a chance to travel around doing computer security related work.
That is a very good time line to join. The CTN training pipeline is going through a major overhaul right now and hopefully the revised version will be in place later in the year.
As far as travel - I'm TAD to VA right now and have been to San Diego and Pensacola since the beginning of the year. Going to Chicago in April. All kinds of interesting things cropping up as we get a handle on training and mission...
Awesome to hear about the travel and further changes to the training. I figure it is best for me and the Navy to finish my education. I've had some really exciting computing security classes thus far (taking a Snort class this term along with Security Management and Incident Response). Plus will give me time to get my CCNA and CEH certs. As always, thanks for the info guys!
