Hey all,
Looking for a little info on the typical duties associated with this job series at the GS-12/13 level. I'm a 21 year Navy vet, pilot+acquisition+flight test, Masters Degree in engineering, currently employed in DoD in a different series (2181). I've never worked intel directly, so curious what the civilians do and what the qualifications are. Thanks for any assistance. |

I'm a GG-0132...I am what they call an IA-4 (new payband covereing senior 13s and all 14s). This is considered the first supervisory payband. Its complicated, and I don't know when the Navy will be converting pay scales to the DCIPS program, but plan on it happening.
GG-12s and junior GG-13s are typically not supervisory positions for GG-0132s. GG-0132 as you already know are intelligence specialists, but what you actually do varies tremendously by agency and assignment. I work for a DoD law enforcement agency, so many of our GG-0132s are former 1811s, but there are a number of folks like myself who are career intelligence analysts. We have GG-0132s who are program managers, field support, and traditional analysts. I can't go into more detail for opsec reasons. General qualifications for employment are essentially the same required for a TS/SCI clearance....except in my agency I also had to undergo a law enforcement suitability screening as well. As a former commisioned officer and current Govie you should have no issues barring any financial or law enforcement issues...which I doubt. GG-0132 is really a placeholder that covers a whole lot of different job specialties...I recommend asking for SPECIFICS regarding the billet, duties and expectations because right now I don't know what more to tell you. |
