I just today put in my SF86 with all of my Yes answers and all of the fun things applicable.
In short, I had a Retail Theft under $50 almost 6 years ago. I was ACCUSED of sexual assault but the charges were dropped since they were found to be Bogus.....I boviously did not comit this crime but its a SEALED record. I just figured to disclose it before it came back later to haunt me.
I also had 7 negative acoutns on my credit report BUT all of those accounts have been paid and there is nothing in colelctions anymore. I've been doing legwork for near 2 months trying to clear my name and now since I submitted this request ( which is a result of a DAR from AIRR to IT ) The Chief in charge of clearances at my NRD HQ says " Things dont look to good for you "
Should I be worried since I've been completely honest and want to move on with my life and have learned from those mistakes. I joined the Navy to improve myself but it seems like I'm not even gonna get my boots on the ground by the sounds of it
Any Suggestions or Am i Just overreacting ?
I have no idea what to do now !
If I dont get my clearance, I still leave as AIRR on 04232008....yet my main problem is I havnt been able to pass my PST exam. and TIME IS GETTING TIGHT !
Unfortunately, what the chief in question told you is probably correct. That's a lot of stuff on your record to be going for TS/SCI.
Then again, sometimes DONCAF does unexpected things. Your interview may be the determining factor, so (and I can't stress this enough) be completely honest with the interviewer.
And did you mean PRT? If so, don't worry about it. The RDC's usually do a pretty good job of whipping you into shape. My division had 100% pass (and I failed the first two times). You'll probably be alright in that regard.
When exactly do i have to do this interview ? They made me aware that this would only take a couple of days to know the deal.....It's the end of Monday and I'm just in KNOTS because of this.

Are you just trying to get a Secret or a TS/SCI? Secret only takes a few days, but TS/SCI can take MONTHS.
As long as you have been COMPLETELY honest, and remain to do so, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
They are looking for people who are still in serious debt, people who have a pattern of misbehavior, and people who are not honest. Once they find any little snippet of information you haven't disclosed, they will be on it like white on rice.
Just go with the flow and don't worry about things you have no control over.
Did you complete the computer questionairre (MASS Screening) at MEPS? As an IT you should have and MEPS personnel should be calling Great Lakes to get approval or denial. This should only take a few days and has nothing to do with your SF86. It is just an initial okay though and not written in stone, just gets your foot in the door (or RTC) so to speak. And yes ITs need TS
Hey do not get too sad. Being a SAR guy is a big step above normal sailor, plus money bennefit. Do a good job, prove you worth it and cross rate. For IT you require TS/SCI. Try ET you only need Secret.

Huh?
Wemblers-if you read through the actual directive you will find that he doesn't qualify for a review under that statute. SCI is specifically barred from review under section 2
Yeah as soon as I read your topic I could have told you that you were going to be denied. As a former CTM I saw DONCAF drag their feet on more then one occasion for less then what you posted.
I can understand your credit problems. I'm very close to enlisting myself and my recruiter told me I'd be well suited for CTN. I haven't had any interviews or any other talk about being a CTN other than what the recruiter and I talked about when I first went to the office. What I haven't told them yet because I haven't been back to the recruiters since taking the ASVAB is that I filed for bankruptcy and got a chapter 7 discharge a few months ago. So my credit right now is 0 rather than horrible like it was before I filed. So since credit problems are not good for getting security clearances, how will this affect becoming a CTN after boot?
I just did MEPS a few weeks ago and they gave me CTN, when can I expected the interview process to happen. I don't have a record and my credit is good, the only money I owe is in student loans. I'm also going to boot camp in Feb.
I also have a question about getting clearances. I'm shipping to boot in December and then to CTN school. I have no credit problems and only one traffic ticket, which has been paid for, declared, and documented. However, I have significant school loans to pay off, which is the primary reason I joined up. I declared almost all of it at MEPS but forgot about another loan worth about 15% of the prior total (I know it sounds stupid, but I was pretty stressed at the time). My recruiter says they have already done complete background checking and I should be good to go, but I doubt it after reading a lot here. My questions are: Will having student loans affect my eligibility, and will I need to officially declare the undeclared loan before I ship out? I am not into chipping paint for six years.
You need to read NAVY RECRUITING MANUAL-ENLISTED COMNAVCRUITCOMINST 1130.8H VOLUME IV – PROGRAMS AND CLASSIFICATION 'http://www.mynavyonline.com/viewtopic.php?f=481&t=2970'
This is the hardest financial requirement which the Navy has, and it deals with CTT, CTI, and IS's..... So if you meet this, then you are good to go...
g. Financial Responsibility. No person shall be selected who has a history of bad checks (unless through bank error), repossessions, cancelled or suspended charge accounts, or indebtedness exceeding half the annual salary of the paygrade at which the applicant is being recruited. If indebtedness includes a long-term mortgage, total indebtedness must not exceed 2 ½ times the annual salary.
Okay, that could be a problem....like I said, the main reason I joined was to pay down my loans, since I wouldn't have to worry about housing, food, etc. However, I do have a lot of loans out. You said it's for CTT, CTI, and IS. What about CTN? Is it the same standard? If it is, I'm completely screwed unless there is a waiver. Half the pay of my paygrade would be less than $10,000.

I'm not sure for CTN. The rule book only points out CTT, CTI and IS. Hopefully someone else will know the requirement...
