Well I am considering going into the Navy as either a CTR or a CTN. Can't find anything on these jobs (as expected with the clearance you need to even GET them in the first place) but am wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the two?

in a very general way...one could say that CTRs use the equipment and CTNs fix the equipment.

You are incorrect.

CTR = Cryptologic Technician Collection
CTN = Cryptologic Technician Networks

Doesn't take too much to guess the difference.

CTNs don't fix anything - we are analysts/operators.

I had the same question as you, and someone pointed me to this site.

http://www.npc.navy.mil/Enlisted/CryptoInfoIntel/Rating...atingInformation.htm

If you look on the right side of the screen, there are a few links to course schedules for the CTN program you could check out. Based on that it looks like network setup and the like. There is not corresponding info for CTR; I'm still looking that stuff up. Hope it helps.
