I am trying to get into the Navy, but I am Army Prior Service E5. I have a TS w/SCI Access and scored a 130 DLAB.

I was told by the recruiter that I could not come in as Active Duty, but should go into the Reserves to show intent and then I could get into Active Duty from there. Is this total "BS"? If I go Reserves, there is no way to get CTI, how would I go about getting that, since that is what I really want?

How long were you in the Army? I suspect that may be the issue since the Navy has high year tenure (HYT) for E-4/E-5s on the active side. Even if you did get in, from what I have seen (and I have known a few OSVET CTs) you generally will take a paygrade reduction. That shortens the HYT window even more.

Have you finished your degree yet?

I had some vets from other services in my class. They went to bootcamp(an easier form of bootcamp) and DLI as an E-3, but upon graduation they were automatically advanced to E-5. One was an E-5 in the air force and the other was an E-6 in the army. Maybe this will help maybe not....
