Well im in CTT "A" school right now and its not going so well. i am almost done (we are studying for unit 3 test) but i double failed the quiz before this one, not even sure if i can say the name of it or not. but that is not the point. I have a ARB tommorow and they might ask me if i still want to be a CTT, is there any chance i could possibly re-rate as a MA. idk CTT is not what i thought it was going to be. if i really have no choice i guess i will stay in it, its not a bad rate just not what i was expecting/wanting out of the navy.

I failed out of "A" school 20 years ago and it was straight to the fleet. I've seen a lot of Nukes get re rated, but I'm not sure they would do that for a CTT. You could always strike after you get to the fleet.

Probably a quick ticket to a fast moving grey hull. Then, probably at least a year on the deck force before you have an opportunity to strike (go into OJT) for another rating. I am sure that this was explained to you before you signed the contract.

Yes it was, but what kind of options will i have if i re rate. They tell us all kinds of horror stories here to scare people into studying

I believe, if I remember the regulatons on this situation that I read a while back, if it is strictly an academic issue, with no discipline problems, you are supposed to get an interview to see if there is another A-school you can go for. And so if there were to be an MA A-school seat available, you might get a shot at it. But I don't know for sure from a BTDT standpoint.

What if you make it all the way through 'A' school and you end up being denied your full clearance? From what I understand, you are granted a temporary clearance to start 'A' school and some people wait in a holding company at their permanent duty station waiting on their full clearance. If it gets denied, is that a situation where they would let you choose another rate or would you get rolled into the fleet?

Hmmm well i know this because this is what i have seen happen to people, if for any reason you lose your security clearance you lose your rate, you could be a chief or a seaman recruit just out of A school it doesn't matter. the most common loss of clearance is money problems

Kyle - what has happened? Are you still in CTT school? Have you been transferred? If transferred, to where? Let us know - thanks.

sorry i did not get to update sooner i have been busy with school/duty and all that good stuff. yes i am going to the CG-69 i am just finishing up school, it looked really bad there for a while but i pulled the last few test out of nowhere.

To answer 15584901's question A school kind of sucks, but really its worth it because it is a really good rate

i got my clearance about a month and a half after being down here, everyone i knew did not have a problem with it. as far as school goes, for some people its really hard for some people its cake, i guess it all depends on the kind of person you are, for me i had some trouble but at least i am going to graduate and i got good orders. as far as corry station goes, it sucks, it sucks bad. everyone i have talked to who is from the "fleet" says its one of the worst places in the navy (there really strict and they treat you like a kid) but get here go through school and you will have a kick *** rate and a good job after you get out. as far as march goes, i might still be here, im leaving in march i think
