I'd like to DEP in as a CTI in the Navy.
I scored a 98 ASVAB and a 109 DLAB.
If I were to join as a CTI, what would my language options/probability of a certain language be?

You need to score at least a 110 to qualify for all of the languages. You just missed it by one so supposedly you cannot get Arabic or chinese or Korean. But I don't think the DLAB score matters a whole lot when you get to DLI. Since you won't get your language til you get to DLI, they try to accomodate you from what I hear.

I should be heading out there later this month or early next month. But you shouldn't have too much of an issue with your selection.

Not true. I scored 100 on the DLAB. I am a 3/3 Arling. DLAB = meaningless.

As I and countless others have posted on this forum for a long time,

YOU WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL YOU GET THERE,

as well as

THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL FORUM,

so take whatever the experts here have to say with a grain of salt. Until the quota manager pops on here and starts giving out tips, anything and everything is possible.

Cheers,
CTI2

There's really no way to know what your language will be. When I arrived there was a spot for Korean and a spot for Arabic open. I was going to get one of those and I got Arabic. You do fill out a sheet about what languages you want, but sometimes that doesn't factor into the decision at all. Having less than 110 they'll tell you that you can't get a Catagory 4 language, but it happens all the time. If there's a spot to fill in a class, you'll go in.

Hi,

I'm shipping in October as a CTI and I'm trying to figure out my whole student loan repayment schedule. My question is: When is the CTI bonus disbursed? I know that in general, sign-on bonuses are disbursed after A school, but I was told that since CTI A school is potentially 63 weeks, the Navy usually doles out the sign-on bonus in installments. Is the true? Whay payment plans did you all negotiate and who should I talk to about this?

To the best of my knowledge, you receive the full bonus amount in one lump after you graduate DLI and get to your new duty station. The re-enlistment bonus might be handled differently, but the initial bonus for signing up will be one lump.

You have to graduate before they'll give you your bonus. If you got a college bonus though I think you can get that before you graduate. You have to fill out some papers when you get to Monterey.

i know if you just get a regular enlistment bonus, you'll get one lump sum up to 7k. if it's more than that, you'll get your 7k right after you graduate A school, and the remainder will be dispersed throughout the next four years. (my bonus is 16k-- i'll 7 right out of A school, then every year on 01 october i'll get a check for 2k)

that's how my recruiter and mom explained it to me.

Look up OPNAVINST 1160.8a. This is the enlistment /re-enlistment bonus instruction. You can find a link to it from the StayNavy website at NPC.
What lauren said was basically right, tho. And keep in mind, you don't get the bonus until after you graduate, so make sure you factor that in, if you go CTI. Two months in boot camp. Up to 63 weeks of school, very likely waiting another 8-12 weeks months in X Division for a new class to open up, and then you ought to get your bonus normally around a month or month & a half after you graduate. This easily adds up to about 2 years after you join. It sounds really crappy, but that's the downside of entering a rating with extensive training.

I am almost positive that the loan repayment bonus is awarded exactly the same.
