Hey there,
At the moment Im undertaking a degree in Social Science at a University here in Sydney, Australia. Once I finish this I was intending to apply for a traineeship at ASIO, which is the Internal Intelligence Agency of Australia, equivalent to the FBI in the US, and CIA being the External Agency. In the 3 years until I finish this degree, I was hoping to get a job at the Defence Force (Reserve), but i cant decide which position would make the Employment Officer at ASIO look more FAVOURABLY at my application? I have 3 options... Army - Infantry Officer - 'Combat skills'?? Army - Military Police Officer - 'Law Enforcement skills'?? Royal Aus Navy - Intelligence Officer - 'Intelligence Analysis skills'?? But yes... I would appreciate it if people could share thoughts on this dilemma, that is, which of the above positions would be more relevant and appropriate for working in Internal Intelligence? PLEASE NOTE: I know this is an ADF related question, but im sure if you substitute things like ASIO with FBI and RAAF with USAF, you will find it relevant. Cheers, |

I work with many RAN Intel types here in Iraq. They speak of many opportunites either in the SWA theater or back home doing law enforcement related jobs that pay decent. The benefit to serving a tour here would pay huge dividends back home in Australia giving you a chance to work with intel types from around the world and seeing how they do business, work together and solve problems.
