Hello all,

If there are any IS folk on here that drill at Fort Dix, could you please give me some detail as to how your normal drill weekend goes? Do you ever get to board aircraft to perform some IS duties or does your time mainly consist of being indoors on the ground? How does the Army base treat Navy folk?

I am heading to RTC on 20080205 and then off to Dam Neck for IS schooling.

I don't drill at Ft Dix, but supposedly the unit there is a sister unit to ours here in New Orleans. The mission recently changed for us, so it might be different in NJ by the time you get there (which will be in, what, 9 months?), but most likely you'll be doing support work for JITF-CT.

Here in New Orleans there's an ONI unit that does more outdoors stuff, like go up in the USCG helicopters or on vessel boardings, but we pretty much spend all day inside. In a windowless room. On a computer. In other words, just like A school.

Can't tell you much more than that (OPSEC), and can't speak to being on an Army post. We have the exact opposite situation (i.e. NAS with some Army units), and everyone seems to cohabitate fairly well.
