I'm relatively new to the Reserves, but I moving in the very near future cross-country.

Does anyone know the proper procedure to move between RIAs? How long does it take to process?

The process is really simple (did it myself in 2003). First, notify your current Chain of Command and update them on timeline, area, etc. There is a form they will probably need to fill out and sign for the RIA staff.
Next, talk to your current RIA staff to find out what RIA is responsible for the area you are moving to. They should be able to provide contact info for that new area.
Next, call the OIC of the RIA you are moving to in order to find a unit in which to transfer. Provide any new billet info to your current RIA staff.
Last, show up at your new Drill location after you move.

That the basic steps...when in doubt, ask a Chief. Good Luck.
