Greetings, sailors. I am a prior svc jarhead and am entering the Navy Reserve as an IS. I was hoping somebody could shed some light on how the school is for a prior as opposed to a fresh-from-boot sailor (as far as berthing, restrictions, liberty, expectations, etc.).
Thanks!

Probably the same amount of liberty, but less restrictions. Your expectations will be higher obviously because you'll probably end up as the class leader. You'll be held to a higher standard I would think. It's the Navy way.
BTW good luck with going from USMC to Navy, be prepared to be hassled.
Okay so basically as a prior-service member they treat you as an adult.
You'll live in a seperate barracks, you'll share a common area and a bathroom with one person, but you'll have you own room. You'll also will not have to worry about liberty restrictions. You can have your car and leave base whenever you want outside of school / pt / duty hours.
For Duty you will most likely be assigned as a Section / Assistant Senction Leader in "A" school, but during your "C" school you will not be required to stand duty, unless they've changed that since I left.
The best advice I can give you is enjoy it while you there, also there are plenty of Marines on the base so if you ever start forgetting what it was like to be one, I'm sure that they'll help you remember.
